Open the OST in Outlook, then Archive everything to PST.

Do I just add it as a data file in the mail area of control panel?

I don't think you can open it directly, but I could be wrong there.

I'm not 100% sure on that, and I don't have the set up any more to test it, but I thought you could open an OST in Outlook without doing anything odd with it. You just don't want it associated with its original account. Might even need to do it offline.

If you have the original Outlook profile for that OST file then you can export directly from Outlook to PST without any tools. Otherwise you are going to need to pay for a tool such as Stellar OST to PST or other options.

OST files generally can't be opened in Outlook. They're temp files that store a copy of the email that was once received. There are paid tools that offer a free trial that do work, but most of them are trash.

If you still have access to the user account it would be better to just setup that user account in Outlook and export a PST if you need an offline archive of the email.

OST files are not PST archives.

This thread is like a honeypot for catching spam accounts.

Stellar that was the one I was thinking of but couldn't recall the name.

I've used Stellar in the past and for the case it was worth spending money.

it is pretty good, if you can't use it then try Systools.

@CCWTech Nothing is free. The only free solution is available is manually convert OST to PST.
