Time for a mobile phone upgrade

I just got the Samsung Note 9 a month or so ago. I was waiting for the Note 10, but my [previous] phone forced my hand.
I've had a samsung in the past but moved to the Moto - done with the moto and want to try something different
Apple products are the devil.

Xiami makes some nice stuff. On the cheaper side if you are looking for a less premium, good value option.
-
All the major flagship seem great. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them, really. They will all allow you to do basically the same things. The functionality is really in the apps and dock you use. My main hardware concerns are camera, battery life, factory storage, memory, and screen.
I'd be happy with OnePlus, Samsung, etc flagships equally I'm sure.

That's what I use.

How about not taking another loan on mobile device. I don't even like taking a loan on a car let alone a phone. I'm not sure how or why people feel like they have to finance it and pay at least 2x for something that doesnt hold value for shit.

I'll be getting the new Huawei, the Mate 30 I think it is. Waiting for it to come out.

Which model, and how do you like it? I use their watch.
While in Paris I got to visit the Mi store!

Samsung now runs ads in their notifications screen. Hard to call anything that is ad-supported a "flagship". Samsung feels more and more like a budget phone at a premium price.

Must depend on the model. I haven't seen the first ad on my phone's notification screen.

I understand that - Im just looking to see what's out there and what everyone else uses.
Plus I'm tired of this Moto z2 Play after a year and some change.
I'm trying to see what I can afford (buy out right and then activate through my carrier) -

This isn't a thing anymore. The carriers frequently give you a zero interest loan on phones today.

well crap - if they are doing it - it seems like it's only a matter of time until they all do.

my first thought is only 32 gb of storage and 3 gb of Ram- But reviews say it runs better than apple products/samsung products.. Price isn't bad -

32 GB internal storage - that's way low. Sure you can put a card in, but depending on what apps you want, you could still run into issues.
Also under $200 for a smart phone - it must be slower than dog shit.
