@dustinb3403 that might work well, I'll give that a try, thanks Dustin.

@jaredbusch does need to be encrypted tbh, it will contain wifi passwords, server passwords, login details, master keys for sites basically.
You are talking about different things.
You can have a clear text note that is accessible only over HTTPS. It is encrypted over any public service because of that. Yet still readable to you.
An encrypted document downloaded over a non encrypted connection can be captured in its entirety and then beat on offline until cracked.
You are totally using "encrypted" like some magic thing with zero understanding of what you actually need.

I personally use KeePass for Android and pull the database down from my personal dropbox account.
Works well, and it could easily work for you as well, but you'd be sharing credentials across 2 mobile devices at a minimum.
Why bother? You can simply have a document in Dropbox shared. That document will never be visible without the transport being encrypted.
-
-
I understand the transport will be encrypted using google drive or Dropbox with ssl, im not confused about that...I'm meaning the app itself stored on the phone.
-
We are also using google docs to share this information, I want something a bit more phone friendly, and preferably an app.

Hence why I mentioned Google Keep.
-
@scottalanmiller This could work as well, I do use Keep on my phone for reminders, never thought of using it for this purpose though.
-
What about a bookstack site for information sharing and then something like Lastpass for password sharing?

Umm, what is the point of this?
Who cares how it is stored on the device?
Who else has access to your device?
Do you not immediately remote wipe a device when marked lost/stolen?
Do you not have a strong password on your device?
See, not of this has shit to do with the data or the app.
-
@jaredbusch Jared, why you got be so damn arrogant all the time, you just like to be there watching for someone to jump on like some bully, If the app is storing data on the phone, I would want it encrypted, no if's or buts....I'm surprised there are any actual users that want to use this forum because of you, you are good at what you know and you know it, but you do come across as a complete twat sometimes....(but suppose you already know this)

The device isn't already encrypted? You're doing it wrong.
Whole device encryption = everything stored on the device is encrypted when it's locked, and EVERYTHING supports whole device encryption. So either you want to re-encrypt, or already have security holes so big you might as well not even consider this one before fixing the others.

Because I want the added security, your use can can be different than mine, but I want to know that people who access to my dropbox account are people who know the password.

@travisdh1 most modern android devices are now encrypted by default?, if the app is sharing a file between devices, I would still want that file encrypted.

Both Android and iOS encrypt themselves as soon as you have a pin/password.

The transfer is not clear text. so again, the point?
-
@kelly I know, it was a rhetorical question

because if said file was to be stored on a windows machine of which I use, I would want this file encrypted, I'm once again not talking about the transport method of the file.

You are changing the requirements.

an application that runs on mobile
So which is it?

Ok perhaps I wasn't specific enough there, It will be used on computer and phone..
