I am looking for a tool that can be used for internal projects with the following features:

Part of our O365, we have MS planner, been using it for few weeks and not really happy with that (mentioned this on another thread in ML)
I do not have the Self-hosted requirement, but I also do not mind self hosting.
I do not want to pay for a solution right now. If we find one and like it and want more features that require payment, I am happy to.
These are the solutions that I saw listed and liked:

- Asana - https://asana.com - SaaS free to 15 users few features - feature comparison
- MeisterTask - https://www.meistertask.com - free unlimited users/projects, many features - feature comparison
These I saw listed and did not care for:
- Nozbe
- Teamwork
- OrangeScrum

Beyond that list, what would people recommend?

I doubt it will meet your requirements, but something as simple as Trello can be a start.

Of your list @JaredBusch it looks like OpenProject is the only one I would consider. The items removed from the free version on the other two are just enough to make the free one not be ideal.

Asana is too simple for me. I'm using it as a customer requirement. Openproject is a bit clumsy but quite detailed. Used it in the past. I ignore the last one.
It is a bit overkill for your requirements but I'm liking flowlu currently. -

I can review it again. I spent like 5 minutes max on each site. I am only trying to narrow the focus.

We use asana (freebie) and MS Planner (part of our O365)... kind of trialling them both with different projects.
Planner is well, it should be an arrest able offence as it’s gimped beyond belief if you don’t use the exchange part of O365.
Asana has a butt load (specifically 108 Imperial Gallons) of gamification... and can get quite spammy if you don’t opt for the daily email update over the notify about everything setting. The gamification makes me a little sick, it seems like it’s aimed at 12 yo kids.

I have been using KanbanFlow (Which is free but limited as you can see below)

Did some more review. Asana is out Jira, is a maybe.
Leaning towards MeisterTask. I would prefer something hosted for long term use.

The WordPress plugins don't seem to be worth the time without paying.
I don't feel like giving away my info to try a fully featured trial, so I'd scratch those off your list... but I'm assuming they never made it on!

You might want to have a look at Redmine if you haven't already.
What tool depends a lot on what kind of IT projects you want to manage.
