As long as there are fax machines, there will be fax spam. People will fax machines are the ultimate targets for spam, so even though almost no one has them, they filter specifically for really effective audiences.

As long as there are fax machines, there will be fax spam. People will fax machines are the ultimate targets for spam, so even though almost no one has them, they filter specifically for really effective audiences.
LOL - not sure I call it effective - yeah, sadly we get some - but the records people just bin them.

You don't need a POTS line to get fax spam. Ours comes through our VOIP all the time

True story. I'm not sure that our newfangled fax machinery makes the awesome dying robot sounds the faxes of old did. Maybe it just mutes that part for aesthetics.

Oh, and I recovered an unmaintained 2007 Joomla website from an even older OpenBSD bare metal (desktop) system today whose (single) HDD died a few days ago. There was SOME kind of a backup (mostly a dump without any documentation) and I was able to gather the last pieces from the dead disk.
Took some hours but it's now running as a Hyper-V VM with Ubuntu server 17.10, nginx, php-fpm and MariaDB instead of Apache 1.x, mod_php and mySQL. Just need to migrate the site to an up to date version of Joomla.
