Riped out another bazillion of old cables. Hope that my new switches will arrive soon, still waiting for a nearly a dozen UBNT EdgeSwitches, an ER Infinity and more stuff.
Make sure to take before and after pictures.

Hehe, I have lots of pictures and will probably create a thread for this later.
The vendor told me today that they will ship tomorrow via UPS. Shouldn't take long, they are just 300km away.

I can get an IBM Stor-something 7000 dual controller FC SAN incl 5yrs HW support for free. 60TB raw, 10k SAS.
Just thinking about using this one as a primary backup target for Veeam. Good idea? Or should I run away?

For free, with warranty? I'd say yes. Backup target is a good use for the thing as well.

If the price is good and it is under support, that's perfectly good.

Why in the world does Nextcloud have a games category for apps?
I keep waiting for something cool to show up in there.

We have one of these with 20TB raw. It's pretty quick and the support has always been fantastic. Support renewal was more then a competitor's SAN though.

Face palm. "You can lead a user to safety but you cannot make him think."
Cleaning up after a Docusign spear phishing incident. The bastards got over 900 emails off before we could shut it down. I am sure this is nothing on the scale of "What could happen".

No, but now you can say look at this -- this DID happen.

OK, thanks guys. Was just looking for a second opinion
Yes, for free. Our DC is going to replace it and they usually give "old" hardware to attached research institutes when there's enough on-site knowledge.

Hey, they're giving it to someone who actually knows the proper use for a SAN. I wonder if they run an inverted pyramid of doom?

No, they don't, as far as I know.

Sounds like a deal then.

Looking at some of my blog statistics... I only have a hand full of posts and it seems to still be getting a decent amount of world-wide traffic:
I suppose that if I would update my content, blog more often, and cover more categories, the numbers would dramatically rise.

On the phone still. Been a very phone heavy day.

Has been an easy day at work. I wish family would hurry up and get over this flu bug though. I've done good at dodging the bullet so far!

No one in my house has caught it (which is great) I usually get hit pretty hard once a year with something.
So far so good. Let's hope it stays this way.

It's usually the stomach bug for me. I managed to dodge that bullet this year too.
