@thwr said in Solution for wireless audio / video to beamer:
- no cable / wireless
- no adapters
- plug and play, no drivers, no applications
- range approx. 10-20m
- Support for at least HDMI and analog VGA (there are still many devices with VGA ports out there)
I'm lost, if you want no adapters, then why does HDMI and VGA matter? Do you mean the part that plugs into the projector?

Well, the list is not a list of strict requirements. The more a product fits this list, the better. Simple as that.
No, I mean the sender part. I don't care about the receiver part, that will be installed once and that's it.
ClickShare for example is just a USB dongle that works with some proprietary application. No real A/V connection to the sending device. -
what about chromecast?
-
Chromecast is something completely different. You basically tell Chromecast to play specific content by providing the content URI and a few more details. You never stream a video from your mobile to Chromecast but tell Chromecast to login to Netflix, for example, and play that video "locally".
There's also another mode where you may stream a Chrome tab to Chromecast, but that's not useful for anything but websites.

I saw this on a facebook ad the other day... I don't have any idea how good it is, but saw it wasn't listed in what you have looked at yet.

For Linux users, their software only supports Ubuntu.

Am I seeing that correctly that each of those cost as much as $299 per?

You save more if you purchase a higher quantity instead of buying one at a time.

My point is, if a chromecast is as cheap as they are, what makes this unit so much better?

This is an alternative to using hdmi cables instead to project to TV or projectors.

Just ordered an Actiontec ScreenBeam 960a. Basically a Intel WiDi and Miracast-receiver. Got some pretty good reviews. Will post what I found while testing the device.
