Most companies have a return policy. How long ago were they purchased? Paying a restocking fee and buying the right thing new is probably easier and definitely better than trying to get the wrong thing working the right way.

I will be looking for new desktops and monitors to replace both AIOs. She's not too happy but I reminded her she never actually consulted with any IT person before the purchases.
She said she did check online reviews of both products before purchasing. I reminded her that both device were probably fine for residential use and other mom and pop businesses but not for software that is basically a lite CAD/CAM program.

Yeah, get some HP Elitedesk computers with a good NVIDIA graphics card.

If they want to find something cheap, but still good, go here:

6 Months is not going to be covering anything but defects.

I meant an after-purchase return policy. It ranges from 14-90 days, depending on the company and the product.

@ajstringham Yes, but he has had them for 6 months.

Ah, missed that fact somehow.

Sucks for them, but hopefully this will wake them up to the fact that they need to consult someone before just purchasing whatever looks good to them, willy nilly. Not that this stops a lot our clients from doing stupid stuff like buying laptops at Best Buy, Staples, etc, without realizing what their requirements actually are.

It amazes me, now that I've seen what business-grade products are like, how badly made most consumer crap is...laptops being the worst.

We say on a day when we are dealing with just that

Exactly! Even harder for small businesses (2-4 users) to understand why they should consider business class computers.
-
@technobabble Oh, believe me, I know! In the early days of NTG we had a few really small clients, who just didn't get it.

This is the niche that I have been working IT in for 10 years.

CAD/CAM
I would get an HP Z series for something like that.

OR
http://www.dell.com/us/dfb/p/precision-desktopsWhich CAD program is it btw?
-
@technobabble doe these all in one boxes have display port? if so, those can be split quite effectively.
The modern on board video cards are not always horrible.
I am assuming you already tried it and it failed though.

It's not about more connections. Its because they wanted to run CAD programs on integrated graphics which isn't going to work well. if at all.
-
That they are integrated is really not an issue. Integrated can often outperform many discreet cards.
Really depends on the integrated and the card.
