Toshiba's Bail Out Plan Destroyed - WD Blocks Sale of Memory Division

Toshiba, rapidly in free fall as its business implodes, was hoping to sell of its flash memory business to cover its losses, but a letter from Western Digital to Toshiba highlights the fact that their contract for their join venture will not allow to Toshiba to sell the unit as they had hoped. The future is more and more bleak for Toshiba.

That would be my guess. I'm pretty sure that we are going to find that WD's contract says that if Toshiba falters that their chip business reverts to full WD ownership.

Acquiring Toshiba would be a bit abnormal, acquiring the entirety of their joint venture on the other hand is most likely happen.

Well because of their Westinghouse troubles it's a good portion of the company financially, but it's certainly not a good portion of the entire company

Does Toshiba still make laptops? They must, I've not seen or heard of them in so long I forgot. They must have shifted focus to other markets.
