Xen Orchestra Upgrading
-
@Dashrender Having support for less than $70/mo. isn't worth it due to the market size (we can't have a "big scale" effect that VMWare/VEEAM can have).
-
What about 4 sockets for free without support and for personal use only?

Why do you need that? just use the XO version then.
-
@Dashrender It nice to have a appliance with easy updating.
-
@Dashrender It's perfect for a home lab, and your don't have to install from sources
-
Well if you go that route, why not make it free for everyone up to 2-4 sockets?
And no Oliver, I'm not really suggesting that.
-
I would be interested in paying for a version that was:
Starter plus:- DR
- Delta backup
- CR
- FLR
-
I mean thanks to ML it's a pretty easy install and upgrade.
If running a script is too much, then doing backups and stuff like that might be too much, as well.
-
Yea we worked really hard to get it so the source version of XO installable with as few commands as possible.
Updating too.

But @olivier I know of at one person who could push for $70 a month. The price point you have now is just really steep.

From a strictly financial point of view, Starter is almost negligible for us. It would be interesting with far more customers (eg at 2 order of magnitude). And even in this (impossible) case, profit will stay very small comparing to Premium users.

I totally get it, you need to eat. The problem that I don't think is obvious is that many businesses look at $500/month and wonder "what are we missing, we can't afford it"

@DustinB3403 You need to think globally Only 1 Premium is enough to not have to convince 7x Starter. And costing 7 times less in support.
You should see Starter as "introductory offer". We'll add services step by step (like Cloud Backup).

Yeah, supporting the SMB's is the killer.
I think perhaps a better plan for SMBs would be, here's the product, some charge - say $500 (pulling a number out of my rear) and with that you get 4 hours of support. Then you can buy support in blocks after that.
The hard thing, you're going up against the likes of Veeam, and because of their size, they don't have to limit it like this.
