And the finishing feature isn't a mandate at all. Currently the failing printer is a HP Laserjet P3015, which doesn't have this today.

Just a nicety that I could see saving some paper by using duplex flipped functionality.

As if it's crack or weed.

        Just say MSRP.

Often MSRP doesn't match the expected shelf price. So I'm not sure what's weird about this?

With something that does duplexing, the ability to flip every other page so reading the page in a 3-ring binder would be a great feature.

Our existing printer can't do this.

Edit: It can duplex, but it doesn't flip the page for easy reading in a binder.

All that is as a feature is changing the nature of the duplex, and which way it flips the page. Brothers have had that feature standard (for choosing) for over a decade. No issues here.

I actually applaud Brother for doing this. Because, as Dash said, MSRP usually doesn't equal the actual price it is on sale.

My point was that of "street value" as if it were stolen and being sold on some corner!

Eh it fell off that back of a truck...

I suppose I can understand that - but I hear non direct selling businesses us that term all the time. Yeah I MSRP my widget at $19.99, but the average street price is more like $14.99.

An MSRP is normally nothing more than a recommended resale price. In some rare cases - Apple comes to mind first - the manufacturer sets the RP (Retail Price), they don't have a MSRP (Manufacture Suggested Retail Price).

When you talk about projects you've done... always mention the MSRP

More impressive to mention that you approved and setup three Ricoh 100,000PPM MFPC that cost $34,000 each than the $11,000 you paid for them.

Why does the cost of the equipment matter? If you're impressed simply because someone was able to spend a shit-load of cash, I think your priorities are misplaced. 😉

This. I'd be much more impressed, personally, being able to say I saved a company $23,000, in addition to adding value X, Y and Z, than the dollar figure on the PO.

Actually the more you pay, the less impressive something is.

I'm sure scott has paid a crap ton for drinks before.

Who's ever been impressed with buying drinks for an entire bar.....

                              😛

That's the definition of a business, an entity out to make money. Those that don't care are hobbies or charities.

The boss wants to keep with the same family of printers that we have now, so it's an HP something or other that we'll end up with.

But nothing has been ordered yet.

I won't get into a rant about how why people think "sticking to all one brand" is somehow inherently better. If that's the case, if you have that kind of volume, I'd look at the LaserJet Enterprise series. I'll see if they've changed since I last looked at them and go from there. But the Enterprise series are fairly solid.

Yeah the mindset is to keep a less varied supply of toner in stock. Which I understand, and at the same time we already have a very varied supply of toners...

                                            So meh.....
