Can't cancel auto renew on godaddy domain

@Jason said in Can't cancel auto renew on godaddy domain:
It tells me the domain is protected. There's no option in the panel to unprotect it. Domain is already unlocked.
In case you want to transfer it, auto-renewal shouldn't matter. In case of upcoming deletion, why unlocked?

According to some forums it's a godaddy scam to get more money cause you have to call them (they no longer to email or ticket support) and then they wait until after the auto renew date to change it

That's weird. I just un-auto renewed mine and the lock is on.

Have you recently requested some other service on the domains that would cause it to get auto-protected?

Nope. I'm trying to chat with them now to see if they can unprotect it.

Won't help you right now, but... That's why I'm using Internetworx (inwx.com). Virtually anything about domain handling and DNS. Plus: Real humans on the other side.

I contacted them. I have to fax them a copy of my drivers license in order to turn off auto renew.

Are you the admin/owner on the account?

yeah, it's one of my personal domains.. It's for protection.. I think it's a scam. It can take up to 30days to review. and of course auto-renew is June 16th.

That sucks. I might turn it off then. I never paid attention to it.

Also note that auto-renew is triggered a full month prior to expiration.

It's not for me.
-
@Jason Strange. I have had about 10 domains and even SSL cert renew exactly 30 days before, which is way before I was expecting them to. The SSL, I had to call and cancel because I didn't want it.
-
With GoDaddy, I have always turned off auto renew on everything right after I buy it.
-
Someone from Godaddy saw this and got it fixed. It's now turned off.
-
@Jason So that guy saw your post here?

Yeah, sadly they can't post here. Godaddy employees apparently aren't allowed too.
