VM from ESXi to Xenserver
-
OK so I've got a XenServer and XO running
So I thought time to get some production machines on there and really play with XO - like backups and moving from host to host etc.So I Exported a CentOS machine (running Unifi Controller V4) into a OVF. Used XenCentre to import, which it did no errors. But when I boot the VM up I see this:-
Any Tips on fixing rather than re-build? Remember i'm a newbie at Linux

@hobbit666 There should a proper way to export/import. If all else fails... there's still good old rsync

According to Citrix that is the way to do it. Export as OVF then import.
-
I've never moved from ESXi to XS, I'm afraid.

Can't help here, never really used XS - another thing on my you-need-to-check-that-out-list. Damn, need to get another box of continuous paper for my printer
Anyway, like I said, there are loads of tutorials for moving Linux to a new "disk" using rsync. Should work without issues as long as the kernel is somehow generic.
-
Kernel is generic here as long as the new target is not set for full PV.

This isn't a XenServer issue, but an issue with the CentOS and being exported from ESXi.
Try re-exporting the VM and importing it again.
-
Did you have multiple drives on CentOS? This looks like one of the drives didn't get exported.

Don't think so it was just a minimum default install of CentOS. I guessed it would of been single disk, default partitioning.

Will try that before I go home now

Hmm, that's odd from the errors it looks like it has the /boot partition but the other ones were on a different drive.

What command can I run on the VM on the ESXi server to see this info?

Still the same

@hobbit666 A quick Google search turned up this. Not sure if it's applicable in your situation.

Here is what I had to do for Hyper-V. I would expect something similar will need done.

Ignore me. Closing XenCentre and reopening seemed to work
