It's known as a retirement area and it's pretty rural. I don't think there is much IT out there.

That's how everyone describes Florida in general.

As a Brit, can confirm - It's just full of Retired people except for like, 2 weeks of Spring Break stuff isn't it?

Spring break to US locations is rather sad. Anyone who can goes outside the country.

TBH I don't even know what Spring break actually is...I assume its a school holiday where everyone just gets wasted...but that's just from watching american teen films etc..?

It's a new thing since I was in college. People didn't really do it then, it was just starting to be an idea. Spring break is a break in the winter (um.. what?) that in recent years has turned into college students going to cheap foreign beach locations in huge masses to get totally wasted where they would be underage to drink in the US since college students can't drink in the US (creating the massive alcoholism and binge drinking problems known in the US and unknown elsewhere.)

So...you can legally buy a rifle before you can drink yeah..?

      Handguns too.

My quick google said handguns are 21 in most States, which is the age for alcohol if I remember rightly?

      Difference is...

      • MOST states are 21 for handguns, ALL are for alcohol.
      • NO county denies handguns I don't think, TONS of counties are dry.

Not only are tons of counties dry. But then you have individual towns that are dry inside of wet counties. The legality of selling alcohol in the US changes by the mile or quarter mile in some places closer to NYC.

Yeah, am I remembering correctly that the town/area that Jack Daniels is made in is Dry..?

@coliver In Texas, we have one precinct of a town that is wet and the rest of the town is dry. (at least we used to, don't know if it is still true.)

Florida is one of if not the most lenient state on firearms. a Florida CWP is excepted in more states than anywhere else. You can also open carry while hunting and fishing. This includes being in route to hunting and fishing. So technically you could keep rods in your vehicle and open carry whenever you wanted.

I don't think dry counties exist in Florida. I've never come across one.

Pennsylvania is very lax. You can open carry anywhere. It's about $25 for a carry permit and takes about 10 minutes.

Yep, it's crazy, the town I live in has been dry since the 1800's the next town over, in the same county, stopped being dry in the 70's. Although there is still a law in the books, I think it is a NYS law, that say bars can't have entrances facing a church... so the bar in town right next to a church has to have everyone use a side entrance. Been that way since the town went wet in the 70's.

The CC permit in NY is very strict. I don't think we honor any other permits by any other states either.

NY does it by county AND by town. I grew up in a dry town.

There are lots of dry towns in our area. Even Geneseo NY (Suny Geneseo is there) they are trying to get rid of all the bars in. Right now there is only one left.

Dry means nothing at the grocery, either!

Covington and Castie are dry, Perry is not, hence the country club annex.

I have a friend who owned a bar (until about a month ago). Cops busted about 20 people with underage ID's in his bar. He is not at fault as he was ID'ing everyone and they were really good ID's but he just gave up shut it down and is going to turn the building into apartments instead.
