I'm attempting to try out KOrganizer on Linux Mint 17.3 Rosa but so far, it does not seem to play nicely.

I tried evolution, but I keep going back to the zoho web calendar.
The reason I wanted to use evolution is because the notification center in gnome 3 will show the calendar events. My wife and I use a shared outlook.com calendar for family stuff and I was going to set that up, but the online accounts in gnome kept having errors with the account so I just gave up.

I've been using calendar.google.com since I accepted that at least one company will know more about me than I do myself. I've got other apps pulling the schedule in as well.
