Welcome to NodeBB 0.9.0 and Gravatar Only Avatars
-
Big day, and big week, in updates. Let's run through what we have thus far!!
- Underlying OS platform was updated from Ubuntu 15.04 to 15.10. Hopefully even more speed and stability. We are looking forward to 16.04 in six months. But until then, here we are. This is our fifth major OS update since the community began!
- NodeBB was updated from 0.8.2 to 0.9.0.
- Mobile navigation is noticeably improved. @JaredBusch should be happy
- Site performance should be even better
- Mouse clicks to bottom of the screen are working now.
- Avatar functionality has been removed from the core system and moved to a module for Gravatar. We've lost the ability to have local avatars mixed in like before. This is good for performance reasons as it guarantees that that load is off of our servers. It is bad because a lot of people who had older local avatars before now do not. Everyone has to go to gravatar.com and set up their avatar for it to work.
- Upgraded MongoDB from 2.6.5 to 2.6.11.
-
We have new navigation options:
- Button for Categories
- Button for Unsolved Questions
-
First known issue that is relatively major: User Account Settings Only Exist in Chrome
-
Except I have tried Chrome, Edge, FF, Safari and Explorer and can't do it in any of them.
-
Works for me in Edge but only if I guess at what the menu says as it is off of the screen. If I make the window large enough, I can click but the words never appear.
-
At least it tells you which notifications are new now on mobile. That drove me crazy.

It tells me on the desktop too with a little disappearing bookmark icon on the right.

I see that now. That's pretty nice.

Very subtle, took me a bit to notice it. I like it.

It's wonderful! We've got GitHub issues logged for YouTube embedding issues as well.
