RE: Sending Invites to Public Folder calendars does not show up
Turns out that these functions cant be used in Exchange Online. PF is very rudimentary in Exchange Online.Only option is to move them to Resources. This is per a Microsoft rep and his supervisor.

RE: Replaced Drive in PE T410 Not adding to Virtual Disk
@scottalanmiller said in Replaced Drive in PE T410 Not adding to Virtual Disk:
Non-Dell drive could initiate this kind of issue, though.
In the end, that is what we found. Adding it to the hot spares then threw the drive into "failure" so the drive was not new since it detected foreign and the OMSA logs are being picky about it not being a certified drive. I was not involved until the swap, so I would have recommended a Dell drive anyway.

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
Had my ceiling wired from builder, and threw up a 7.1, working on the .2 to piss off the neighbors. Some nice Polk 3 ways.
I still have to perfect the direction of some of them, but it's pretty freaking loud. -
RE: Disabling Mailbox disables another mailbox
After I finish the damage control or real accounts getting nuked, I am going to test that theory. but I have a 90% hunch.

RE: What did you have for lunch or dinner today?
@scottalanmiller said in What did you have for lunch or dinner today?:
Just managed to get non-member reservations for dinner at one of the best private restaurants in Dallas... the Tower Club. Taking the wife and roommate out for a pre-New Year's night out.
Big pimping. Kinda defeats a nice date night with the wife if the roommate is in tote too.

Veeam Licenses Quandry
30 days until renewal.
We have a mix of Sockets and Instances.
My gut says we just Keep a small amount of sockets since they are cheaper. I am thinking Instances would be better since the agent is portable. We are moving Datacenters coming up and I am not wanting to stick with HyperV. The 1.5 Licenses per server kinda sucks though.
Plus counting on HyperV to do our backups have been meh.Sockets or Instances?

Working on hardening Exchange 2010.
First step, upgrade it to a current Exchange version
Maybe not licensed?
More reasons to not run your own email service.
I actually argued that during my interview here, why bother managing services like Exchange and Lync when they play nice in 365. Exchange is easy to manage once it is up and running, I get it, but the way things are moving it is best to have it in the cloud. If your HQ goes down, so does email. If you have a datacenter offsite, you could run it there, but why bother.....

From Cloudflare:
Update - This afternoon we saw an outage across some parts of our network. It was not as a result of an attack. It appears a router on our global backbone announced bad routes and caused some portions of the network to not be available. We believe we have addressed the root cause and are monitoring systems for stability now.
Jul 17, 22:09 UTCQuestion is, where did those "bad routes" come from?
Garbage in = Garbage out.
Better yet.....Where was the Change Request?
Based on their follow-up post it was human error. So, my original thought stands.
So does mine. Garbage In usually means no Change Request.

Today a large corporate "IT department" that uses DattoRMM (OMG, shoot me now) ask me if we needed these "apps"...
sc.exe and wmic.exe because DattoRMM was flagging them.
Um, that's WINDOWS. What kind of IT department that manages thousands of Windows computers opens a ticket to their upstream MSP to ask what sc and wmic are? Like, ever heard of Google? Or Windows? Seriously?
Do I need sshd on my linux servers? Can you remove it?

@scottalanmiller I know I want to move away from this model but at the moment it's the easiest option as the contract was up for renewal.
Once I've finished a few other projects over the next 18months i'll be revisiting the whole MPLS and look into alternatives
Why go through the project now if it will be reverted in 18 months? Let me guess, some kind of city or government job?

Well, the time has come. Officially job hunting.
I assume you are searching by choice and not by force?
By choice yesterday, forced as of 11:45am this morning.
Well then congrats and wish em well, no point in burning a bridge.
I wish them nothing. He stood in my cube doing it, with 15 people within earshot.
In that case take your stapler back?
