    • Hiding missing patches using MAX RemoteManagement

I discovered that about 35 "missing" Window Updates patches have to do with non US English Language packs and the MS Browser Choice Screen Update for EEA Users (European Economic Area).

Is there a way to hide these? I presume choosing "ignore" in MAX RM would leave the missing patches listed.

Whoa. Stop. NO legit host would ever ask you to transfer your domain. That's a scam.

      Ok I have 3 options

"I want to register for a new domain"
"I want to transfer my domain"
"I will update my nameservers on an exsisting domain or I will register a new domain"

I presume the 3 options here are what you see at 1&1 domain panel? No worries...just find a new registrar and use that new registrar to transfer your domain.

Worry about pointing dns until after domain is transferred to new domain registrar.

I built PCs for my kids from leftover parts in 2003 for Christmas. I told them if they got virus and malware from downloading music illegally, they would have to re install Windows.

My youngest son came to me a week later and asked for the Windows XP CD and if I would walk him through the process.

@MattSpeller That's true...I got the kb...then had to search the internet using the might G. You would think that a "suggested whitelist" for these updates could be included in the mix. Hell I would pay to have that.

    • Data wiping and HIPAA/HITCH

I have a small medical billing office that needs to have drives wiped as the PC's and servers are no longer needed by the company. As usual, they would like to do whatever is the cheapest today. Any ideas or input would be appreciated.

1.) I have one failed drive which I presume would have to be degaussed or shredded since it is not functioning.

2.) I have a few drives in PC's that can be wiped but customer asked about certification of service. I haven't see that yet, have you?

3.) How do you wipe servers when they are setup in a RAID?

      Thanks!

    • 10/100 network woes

I saw that @Dashrender recently had a post about possibly upgrading to 1GbE.

One of my small business clients, HIVAC service company, has extended their office and added on to their consumer 100Mb network gear with another consumer switch and added one more PC to the lan and a few more wireless devices and 2 or 3 more IP phones.. The client claims that their network has slowed down since then.

The only thing on the network that is shared is the QuickBooks file which I have been trying to get moved to the cloud. This would be good also when she starts doing more from home.

Since the phones are 100Mb, I can see where it's possible that they are affecting the QuickBooks being shared on the network. Since adding Gigabit is not going to solve the problem, would it make sense to run two switches, one for data and one for phones?

    • Skype for Business

According to my O365 portal admin area, I have this software on my PC as well a the privilege to use it.

When I go to login it says to use your Sign-in address, not your Skype Name or Microsoft Account.

      Where is this found?

    • Possible malicous file

I found a file called maile.php on the server.

First lines make me think it could be malware:

"mailer inbox, mailer inbox to all, inbox 2013, inbox 2014, send inbox, send inbox to hotmail aol gmail, script mailer inbox, how to send inbox, send anonymous emails, alboraaq send inbox, unlimitid send inbox,by rocky & poter

Is there a way I can find out if it really is malware?

    • Network connection issue after W10 update??

PC needed me to login and showed doing updates. After it booted to the desktop I noticed that the Network icon had a yellow triangle. I checked the Network and sharing center and found "You are not currently connected to any networks." I wired the PC directly to the router bypassing the switch after confirming all other devices in the house/ office were still connected to the network.

I then attempted to install and connect via wireless USB device, and that failed to connect also. In Network Connections I show Eithernet Enabled (Intel GB device) and Ethernet 3 Disabled, which is my Hyper-V Virtual Ethernet Adapter.

On a whim I launched my VM and was able to conenct to the internet and surf the web.

I checked the Intel GB network card properties and found in Events:
      6:45am - Device installed net 1ic64.inf
      Device started e 1express
      Device configues net 1ic64inf
      Device Migrated
      Device install requested

    • RE: Moving from hosted webmail to O365

Called support weeks ago and after a lot of phone calls and emails, I informed MS that they can close the support ticket.

The issue was that I couldn't use my O365 login (MS business/org account) to log into Microsoft Office Mobile App. It would work with my personal MS account.

They said it was because I had the same address for both. However on the web, or with Android apps such as OWA, Outlook, Word and Excel worked with my O365 Account.

Earlier this week I read an article about new Android Apps and now the Office Mobile app says:

*** Try the new Word, Excel, and PowerPoint apps! Now available for Android tablets and phones in the Google Play store: http://aka.ms/worda, http://aka.ms/excela, http://aka.ms/ppta. These new apps replace Office Mobile. **
Microsoft Office Mobile is the Office companion for phones running Android OS prior to v4.4.”

So since my phone is 4.4.2, it's not supposed to work.

I am looking to replace our very old WGR614v7 router and a USB wireless adapter.

I am looking for your suggestions.
