RE: I have to change cloud drive service yet again
Hard to imagine NextCloud having these kinds of issues at that kind of scale.

RE: Synology-Storage Manager less than File Station
@bbigford said in Synology-Storage Manager less than File Station:
Figured it out. Some backup software can create sparse files. File Station is reporting the size of data including sparse size, but Storage Manager is reporting only actual data on disk.
On Linux, this is often the difference between the output of df and du.

I am not sorry that you stood on train tracks and got run over by a train. I can feel sympathy for the families, but not for the stupid.
But the kids... Just standing with their parents.
Very sad, they think people couldn't hear the train coming.

Why would anybody go to the kwikemart, buy lottery tickets with their own money, then put them in the company Mega Millions pool?
Corporate minions are rarely bright.

RE: snmp for linux, is it really this difficult?
What Linux are you using? DO has a guide for Ubuntu that seems pretty straightforward.

You may want to check out Kodi.
You can install it on nearly everything.
Kodi is good because it is meant to be an AV system used via a remote.

Found a way of moving my linux machines from XenServer to HyperV. Used Clonezilla
Poo, Seems only my Debian based VM's have worked out of the box, my Fedora/CentOS have boot issues now.
You might need to add Hyper-V drivers?

RE: Windows 10 Odd Desktop Behavior - No Links Working, No Settings
User confirmed, it appears to be working. Edge isn't working, but it's not needed. Just made Chrome the default and everything that was remaining was fixed. Thanks everyone, looks like it is good now.

RE: Windows 10 Odd Desktop Behavior - No Links Working, No Settings
Just finished with lots of updates and I think that it might be working. I've asked the end user to give it a try and let me know if it is fixed or not. But from what I can tell, it is way better.

I managed to get it to reboot and run updates. Fingers crossed, it appears to be improving, maybe.

45 mins on treadmill, day off, lining up coffee #2, listening to dm stith.
Don't you like running outside?
Hi @Joy I don't have the knees for running or the lungs haha.
are you crawling on the treadmill?
I thought you supposed to be running in treadmillWalking is another possibility... people have been known to walk on them too
I don't like walking on treadmill nor running.
It's like walking many hours but still stuck in one place.Nah, you're doing it wrong. I've setup an old PC infront of the treadmill. I watch all this stuff on Youtube. I watch for entertainment, but you could spend the time doing an online course or watching the news etc etc.
A little PC stick could do that, too.

The situation is that I am working on a users desktop, Windows 10. She asked me to look at it because it had been off for a few days and when she powered it on and started using it, when she was in Outlook should could not get it to open or follow any hyperlinks. I looked at it and sure enough, if you click a link from Outlook nothing happens. But you can copy it, paste it into Chrome, and it works fine.
I tried going into settings to see how things were and discovered that while I can open the Start Menu, the Settings button doesn't do anything. It shows that I click it, but the Settings never open.
Tried opening Settings from the CLI, it does not open, either.
Virus is the first guess, of course, but wondering if there are other good possibilities. Working on it is exceptionally hard because it is remote and some key things don't seem to work or respond.
Install Windows and Application Updates, then reboot and if issue continue check for profile corruption.
How, I can't open the settings.
I tried from the command line, too:
wuauclt.exe /updatenow 'wuauclt.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
That command is deprecated, try this in Powershell
(New-Object -ComObject Microsoft.Update.AutoUpdate).DetectNow()
That returns immediately without any feedback.

I forgot, did that last night. Didn't affect anything
