I want an oscilloscope for my shop but they're bloody expensive, going to have to save up.

The one guy here got some Chinese junk one that plugs into his laptop. I think it was like $90.

For $90 I might be willing to get one of those!

I think that you are over thinking this. Keep things pretty simple. Having two servers and manually failing over from your DNS provider is still far more failover than most sites have.

      They sell them at Fry's.

ICMP (Ping and TraceRoute) should be enabled by default. Have you tested them to see if they are already blocked?

That's probably true. At that price anyone and everyone likely was picking them up just to learn things. The cost of creating and destroying them is probably too high.

Port 22 is open by default as well. How did these get closed?

The cost to create or destroy an instance should be so tiny, shouldn't involve a person at all, most likely it's the running out of resources due to popularity.

Requires IOPS and system provisioning to handle maximum loads. There is a bit of CPU consumer as well. That's why the spin up isn't instantaneous, it's actively doing things for thirty seconds or so.

Maybe you should provide us the output of your IPTables configuration file. Then we can tell you what to change. Not sure how else to help.

It would be rather awful for the industry if they were to suddenly collapse. They are too big to fail, in a way.

Really? I know of no one that is actually purchasing support through them.

As a platform they are massive, and are used globally, that I understand. The question I have is Canonical doing most of the software development or is the community?

Canonical does loads of the development and lots of places use their software because they can get support, not necessarily because they do get support. This will have a lot of ripples.

Maybe Red Hat or Suse would pick up support contracts to protect customers.

Good that someone is doing this. There are people who like Unity and will want to have it keep moving forward even if more slowly.

It wouldn't be bad if a few things were changed. It was just super slow to do a lot of tasks.

Not really meant for people doing a lot of tasks. It's kind of a "one task at a time" interface.

I just meant a lot of tasks are slow. Not a lot at once, just a lot of the normal things you would do were slow.

      Oh, got you man 🙂

It's not simple. You cannot simple "configure." Please provide us the listing of your current configuration. IPTables is pretty easy, but you have to work with the text file and edit it. So we need to know what you have in order to fix it.
