Now, so far as I know, Asus is planning on releasing a DIY kit to pop a G-Sync chip in a few of their monitors, namely the VG248QE.

Thanks. Management was pretty unhappy about the pricing practices and the reports haven't been super good so I think we are going to avoid them. We are only looking at the shared service only, our VPS come from Rackspace and Azure.

Bluehost is a bit cheaper. Taking a look at them.

With the 24 drives in RAID 10 I believe that this would be a good fit for one of my clients, sadly I hear the datacenter they are moving to suggested a rig 1/10 the power with a magic SAN device.

They are asking their datacenter for server advice? That sounds pretty weird. I've honestly never heard of someone doing that before.

What kind of workload are they doing that requires this kind of horsepower?

LTS is the way to go if you are using Ubuntu.

Sort of. I've worked with shops that thought that and got seriously burned. Canonical didn't actually provide support for LTS issues and told their customers that to get support they had to upgrade to the newer, non-LTS versions. So the concept of Long Term Support in the Ubuntu world isn't what we think of it in the business class world of Red Hat, Suse or Windows. If you run into bugs that cause instability in those, they fix them. They don't tell you to leave your supported version and go to an unsupported version to get a fix.

Oh, it's the same text. That means that my browser failed and said that I didn't post. Since I post from mobile devices that happens a lot and I expect it. So I take a copy of the text before I submit so that I don't have to retype. I never saw that there were two.

Cool ; they finally copied FreeBSD Jail technology 🙂 this is one thing I've been missing on Linux.

No, that they've had, more of less, for a while. This is a little different, I think. Have not played with it but this is more of application virtualization (I hate that term) rather than how Jails approaches it. Lots of similarity but Linux already had LXC and other technologies to attempt to compete with Jails. No idea why they didn't port Jails directly or make something almost identical. Solaris Zones is really the one to catch, they've had it for so long and it is so enterprise that that is the one to mimic.

No kidding. That is some amazing stuff. Just like enormous buildings. So much engineering there.
