So is it official that we're aiming for the 23rd so that I can put in for time off that week?
Just pushed to release:

Idk if I'm going to pre-order it tbh. It's a collectors thing and I'm not much of a collector. I just use emulators for everything.
@scottalanmiller said in Who Has Lost Their Job to the Cloud:
We hear this a lot and there is a thread about this elsewhere right now. People say all of the time that the cloud took their jobs, but has anyone seen this? I could go on for a long time about why it might appear this way but is not actually happening. But more importantly, does anyone see this in any capacity whatsoever? My guess is basically that it is all made up. Cloud resources require management just like anything else. It's not like cloud changes who the system admin, desktop admin, app manager, DBA and other roles are. The stuff that cloud takes is mostly the very, very new role of virtualization platform admin and some bench work.
Bench people I could see being affected, but only a little bit there. But IT? Anyone?
crickets

When making a new ticket, several of the fields are failing to populate.
Have you added contacts and organizations to the system? I was looking at that yesterday and noticed that you have to add them to select an org and contact.
Each ticket can have different information.
NTG is a contact / Org so yes.
I would check, but seemingly can't log in today.
I'm waiting on my IT to wake up so that I can figure out what is going on.
Okay,.. the password reset doesn't work either... so might be related. Did you kick it yet?
We're back up.
Just had a very efficient lunch fixed/changed about 6 things for sodium in about 40 minutes. I'll take it!
@wrx7m said in Sodium Helpdesk: Feature Request To Do List:
I think a lot of users choose high priority regardless of actual priority. I haven't had a chance to play with Sodium much yet but if it can maybe limit priorities to low and medium for certain categories/issues with an override for IT, that would be cool. Is that a thing?
I think that is a great idea. This is actually an issue that we run into regularly at my other work. I'm constantly seeing sev 1 cases go through that are really more like a 3 or 4 (shouldn't even be getting to me). I'll think about this one and add it to the list as maybe a configurable?
Just woke up from an accidental 20 minute nap on my keyboard. Not enough to do any good and just enough to give you those extremely annoying jitters.

Watching Secret life of Pets with my son. I have to say the kids movies grow on you ( but you dont really have a choice when you're a parent) more and more.. now to jump on cybrary.it and watch some Network + videos while hes distracted..
Yep Secret life of Pets, Moana, and a select few others really aren't that bad.
Next we are going to watch Sing ! im just glad its not Minions and Trolls every time we watch a movie now.. LOL
LOL ours was inside out. The colors! It's like a psychedelic trip for a child. For the longest time she wouldn't watch anything else.
@nerdydad said in What Do You Want in a Helpdesk and Ticketing System?:
This probably isn't an immediate need but would like to see it in some iteration down the road.
My company likes to use forms to automate some business processes (new employee creation, employee permission changes, employee terminations, etc.). Some of these processes requires certain managers or a CAB outside of the IT department's approvals. So they would need some kind of email or notification of some type that requires them to click a "yes/no" or "approved/denied" set of links either embedded into the email or like back to the website for the decision. This would probably be best tied to a ticket.
So, 3 things here:
- User splash page
- Custom forms
- Approval processes
Thanks guys.
Taking notes thanks for the input. Definitely have had similar talks to this before so I'll make sure that this is on our project list. (likely already is).

That one is at least a cute movie... except if you have seen it 1001 times.
It's a great movie, and it has quite a bit of depth to it. Adults should absolutely see it, they'll constantly be saying "Oh, I see what you did there...". But yes after I hit the 5000 viewing count I have gotten a bit sick of it.
@scottalanmiller This has been a bug I thought I had fixed already. An old nemesis, looking into it.
@irj said in Every other post on here is about Sodium...:
Are we the official forum for the product now? It seems everyone on here is putting alot of time in testing the product.
It is cool to see people helping test this product and all, but there isn't alot of information about the plans of the product once it is ready for production. Is this helpdesk officially backed by ML?
What will the pricing model be? I saw someone post that they have talked about before, but I didnt see any actual links
What datacenter is being used for hosting?
What is the background of the company? Is there other software this company has made or is this the first attempt?
Maybe all these questions have already been answered, and maybe I missed them. However it seems like some of them are important since I am seeing alot of people on here spend alot of time with it.
Hi @IRJ, some of these answers I'll be able to give you, some I won't. 99% have been answered by @QuixoticJustin or I in the past though so the information is out there.
ML is where we have been talking about this and involving the community so that when we have a finished product it actually is something that people will want to use. This is really what it comes down to, we don't want to waste our time creating a product that eventually no one uses.
The pricing model is that it's free (we are looking to monetize eventually through ads). There also might be specific features later down the road that might be so in depth that it will cost money. This is not my area though so I do not want to give false information in regards to what may cost money eventually. My guess would be for example, on-prem solutions would eventually cost money. Again this note has a major disclaimer of not being my area.
Datacenter: I'll get back to you on this. (again not my area).
All engineers have working on this project have/ potentially even still do work elsewhere on other projects (I work in the Telecom sector while doing this project for example). This will be the first project with Quixotic specifically that this team has taken on though.
Hi everyone,
I'm currently working on the data collection job at the moment so if you see delayed time frames on your last machine check in, that is why. Just wanted to let everyone know so that no one wonders what is going on. Thanks!

@marcinozga said in Sodium: Machine list blank:
I decided to give Sodium a shot, but so far it's a big disappointment. Starting with windows installer, it doesn't check if Chocolatey is installed, and if I'm correct, it installs it again. It should check if Chocolatey exists, and if not, only then install it. And for whatever reason service restart ended up with "'Restart-Service' is not recognized as an internal or external command," but when I run it manually it worked. Perhaps msi installer would be a better idea here.
I got salt-minion service running, but my machine list is empty. I would expect minion to check in with master almost instantly. Over half an hour and list is still blank. Minion is installed on my Win 10 desktop.
Sorry that you are having such a rough time. As has been stated MANY times on this forums this is in early alpha. This is not CLOSE to a full release. That being said we have been finding quite a bit of success on all fronts here. Especially on the win 10 front.
Now I'm happy to help but I need more information. If you send me a message I'll be more than glad to help.

Ah yes,.. from within the device. I have to edit my OP,.. it wasn't clear on what I was asking (and I thought I was being detailed... learn me to eat and type at the same time,...)
Might I ask to what purpose would you need it on the front page like that?
People who complain about piss poor system performance, with up time of 45 days on their desktop. . .
Did you reboot it?!
Mabye Sodium shuld have an "auto reboot on complaint" feature.
Personally I think I should implement a workflow that when a complaint is registered through the external portal via a ticket the first step that happens is the workflow auto restarts the user's machine. lmao
