      I actually have this laptop as well. It's worked like a charm and have actually developed a good portion of SodiumSuite on it. No issues at all.

      Side tag because I had someone ask which chromebook I have: @DustinB3403 this one is the one that I have.

      Have you added contacts and organizations to the system? I was looking at that yesterday and noticed that you have to add them to select an org and contact.

      Each ticket can have different information.

      NTG is a contact / Org so yes.

      I would check, but seemingly can't log in today.

      I'm waiting on my IT to wake up so that I can figure out what is going on.

      Back to reality 😞

      Post conference withdrawal.

      Playing catch up after the conference. It isn't as fun as the conference.

      I start the real catch up the day after tomorrow. Tomorrow I have to sit around hoping that Frontier shows up with my fiber connection for the house 😞

      Frontier offers fiber?

      Not that I'm aware of. At least not around here.

      Dallas they do.

      Makes sense, anywhere but the ROC.

      @dbeato Lot's of good stuff here. I've been in a bit of a transition (had to make some changes so that I actually had money to pay the bills) so that slowed how quickly I was pumping out fixes but I think we're getting to a point where I'm almost back on track. I'll be looking into all these hopefully later today.

      @scottalanmiller said in Sodium Helpdesk: Set Default View:

      By default, I think that the ticket view should be set to "My Open Tickets". That shouldn't be a filter that has to be turned on. Maybe a few quick buttons would be handy, too. Like "My Open", "All Open" and "All" that you can just toggle without going into a filter menu.

      @QuixoticJeremy

      Agreed and now that we have the filtering system (yay). I'll definitely start putting common practices like this into place. For example closed tickets now normally are not included in the initial unless filtered to look for closed. I'll be sure to present a "my tickets" view hopefully soon.

      @Breffni-Potter You have a point, I'll say this. If I were to hack a company (which I would never do) I'm going to choose someone who has "left the front door unlocked" why would I choose a far more difficult target if there are tons of easy targets that are just as profitable?

      lol the issue is that the logging system is turned off atm which is something I need to figure out what is going on... (also something that is not in my jurisdiction)

    • RE: The Difference Between IT and Software Engineering

      @scottalanmiller Great points here. IT and Software Engineering are extremely different but also the culture behind each side of this coin is very different like you said. As someone who has worked on both sides of this coin your point that most on the IT side have at least some programming experience where most software engineers tend to have very little to no IT experience is very accurate. This makes it very interesting when you have software engineers trying to support their own software, reason being they tend to not have the experience to deal with environmental issues that come up (or at least that's what I see happen fairly regularly).

      @scottalanmiller said in Sodium Monitoring Request: Confirm on Delete:

      Currently if you click an X on a machine in the Sodium Dashboard, it just deletes the item immediately, no warning, no text saying that that is what it does, nothing. If you accidentally click there, gone. If you are wonder if that is a button, gone. If you wonder what it does, gone. It's a bit dramatic.

      Being able to delete is good, but I feel like this might be a feature that needs to be "hidden" unless enabled. Like you have to click something elsewhere on the screen to have it show up at all so that it is never taking screen real estate or inviting click errors, and if clicked it needs a stern warning asking if you really mean to delete a machine from the system since reinstalling isn't necessarily trivial.

      @QuixoticJeremy

      I think that this is a more than fair point, and something I should have put in to begin with. Look for this in a hotfix in the near future.

    • RE: The Difference Between IT and Software Engineering

      @EddieJennings If IT doesn't do it then there could be environmental factors that weren't set up identically to prod that could influence who code runs, thus creating bugs and wasted time once the code hits production.

      I think being able to add tags to assets would be great. This way we could have different tags for different scenarios. Maybe some tags should be built-ins and some could be individual? Some tag ideas would be...

      • Prod, Dev, Staging, QA, Testing
      • Desktop, Laptop, Server, Switch, Router, NAS, SAN
      • Application Tags: MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Apache, NGinx, Database, Web, SQL Server, IIS, Exchange, Zimbra, Email

      @QuixoticJeremy @QuixoticJustin

      Definitely not a bad idea. This definitely won't be one I'll be able to roll out in an hour of work though lol. I'll add this to the project list for sure though!

      Maybe not all IT admins (namely helpdesk techs) need the capability to delete.

      Already something that has been noted, while it hasn't been fully implemented you can see that this functionality is being built in with the admin module in terms of group permissions settings. So yep this will be covered (and very soon).
