I am sorry to say that I will be running around like a chicken with it's head cut off 😛 and an hour south of where you will be to boot!

Sounds like your down by our family property. We almost were there this past weekend. But with the rain (possibility) we opted to stay home.

      Webroot!

I have had a few systems that come from time to time with Webroot. I never have had much time with it.

If I recall it is a very good solution to install on a "Clean System" Due to its ability to roll back. And it is not meant for "Cleaning purposes"

I had seen on some of the systems that came through that some undesirable programs would be installed on some of the protected systems. I always wondered why things I knew to be junk were allowed.

I like to handle the customers system so when they have an issue or a question they can talk to me directly. Then I can help them resolve the issues. I found that it is very hard for customers to voice their issues to the support teams, therefore good support was hard for them to attain. Leading them to a less secure, or less tolerable system.

I want a system that I can manage from anywhere, on any customer. Simply and effectively

Comodo1 was decent. But due to the harrasement of their sales team we will not be using them.

      Next will be OTRS.

I have been "Working with, Using" Comodo solutions since 2011. My first contact with them was one of their "people" contacting me. I initially resold their internet security suite. As things changed, (Rules of support), and "what was covered with , and then competing to resell the customer before they did) I stopped selling their suite. The only way I use their product now is providing endpoint protection to my customers. That server is hosted on my systems, and then I charge my customers an annual fee to be "managed" This includes the licensing fee, and a labor component.

I really like their Endpoint product. Unfortunately they have it set for EOL. So the only way forward is with the new platform, or a new provider.

Moving to an HDS, EMC, 3PAR or Nimble is a drop in change that would fix a lot of things.

I'm interested in hearing why these would make a good alternative to the SAN and IPOD?

I have read this entire thread (albeit over a lot of time) I don't know the piece of equipment "IPOD" as it is referenced in this thread. I figure it is not an Apple device. Could someone clarify? 😊

Appears to be working now. Why would it only work with the extra check box?

Was there some policy / GPP or script in place which overrides the NIC to use DHCP? That would explain the APIPA address.

Just read your response and then realized I mispoke. My mind was thinking APIPA (but forgot the term) and was thinking Dhcp assignment failed and then the APIPA was assigned instead.

The 169. Network is for DHCP APIPA, I'm sure your aware of that. You have "configured the settings correctly" They just didn't take effect. It seems that the Dhcp failed and reverted to the APIPA address.

Sometimes if you tick the box "validate settings upon exit" it will force the settings change.

      Or

A disable and reenable of the ethernet adaptor will usually resolve it.

      Or

      from cmd... ipconfig \release.
      Then
      ipconfig \renew

Just some of the different ways I have resolved it when it happened to me.

I've taken the plunge and have signed up for a Digital Ocean account and will test this on a Linux box - maybe ubuntu...

You are new to Linux... ONLY use CentOS. Get rid of Ubuntu right now, switch and save yourself a lot of misery.

I didn't think the controller worked with anything other than debian based?

I'm not sure if it is supported with CentOS, I haven't worked with it (CentOS)much at all. But I know specifically the controller is compatable with debian\ubuntu with no other Linux platform download availability.

Well I had a post that I was almost done formating, and I was going to check a name and lost it. Grrr. Anyways. That was one stupidly arrogant, and completely off base act on his behalf.

The OP just needed help and all he did was derail the whole thing.

If someone did that in the middle of the dc down the other day that would have been horrible.

To @Dashrender I believe I was on SW then if I recall. Unfortunately I missed that one!

I always have looked up to @scottalanmiller it was clear he was very smart and knowledgeable. I was beyond excited when him and @Mike-Davis started up the Spice Corp in the area. Just sad it took be almost 10 years to be able to go and meet them both.

Very comical read thank you Scott!

Glad to add some Friday night entertainment. The best part is that he claims to currently work for Offix.com and asked that this be sent on to them so that his employer can verify that he is indeed a qualified printer programmer and that he does amazing work (and, I'm guessing, that he is a qualified oven programmer as well.)

I wouldn't want anyone to read that. To summarize his own words SW is a professional forum, where professional answers and are expected. His professionalism was lacking and he might have well just "shoved the guy over the edge of a cliff on camera"
Someone should have asked for that video explainer. That he said he would post of him doing it "programming" again. I'm sure the company would love that for proof!

Just ordered a new paște application tool for sheetrocking.

So I'm totally worthless with sheetrocking tools. So I can't tell if this is a real word or not... is paște really supposed to have a Romanian ș in it?

My keyboard must have swyped to the Română keyboard... the funny thing is I can't figure out how to actually type an a or the s like that.

I grew up with my dad as my teacher! I have been working with paste since I was 4 years old... but he was like the guy that only works for one company and never leaves his cubicle. The technology out side his company surpassed him. Now I finally stepped out of the same cubicle and see such better ways to work with paste!

I'm trying to get buy in from him for his future use. This office remodel is how I'm showing him the new tools.

      having way too much fun

Which new tools? I've only ever really worked with knife of different sizes.

      Corner roller and corner flusher

That's pretty cool. Not sure if I would ever have a need for it though.

What I'm after in the future

damn now that's the way to tape!

When you combine all the tools together in phases it's incredible!

This tool is also an important part
      This tool too

I'm just asking myself why I have never seen a professional painter using such tools.

I think it would be more commonplace in a new housing development being built all at once. The bazooka will require greater clean up. Only really beneficial of you have enough work for it.

TBH, I know a few painters. No one uses such a tool, because the old method will get you a cleaner result and it isn't slower at all 😉 That tool may come in handy in some situations, but I guess not so much for pros.

It wasn't till recently that we were exposed to a professional commercial crew using these tools. They are a production team that builds restaurants and other retail places. The speed to produce a quality finish was far over anything we were capable.

Mind you we aren't hobbiest's, I have many years of building, wiring, and finishing homes.

My father has been pasting for well over 40 years, myself for well over 20, one of our guys for about 12 years, not sure on the other guy but he is also good.

We are able to work at a good pace and with a good finished product.

We have a multiperson contractor group. We work on many projects, big and small.
I have pet projects as well (Habitat for Humanity, stuff like that.)

      Long story short
The proper tools for "old school finishing" are still not a cheap investment. But this automatic tools are significantly more $.

I think the time savings can balance the expense.

If it was me running a company, I'd be using those tools! Not my sort of business, but I"m gonna have to let the extended family know about these!

Here in NY we have such limited exposure to these tools. I'm glad I found them. Glad to know it helped someone "potentially. "
