Has been an easy day at work. I wish family would hurry up and get over this flu bug though. I've done good at dodging the bullet so far!

No one in my house has caught it (which is great) I usually get hit pretty hard once a year with something.

So far so good. Let's hope it stays this way.

Spoonful of sriracha every 3-4 hours will keep that junk at bay. Or alleviate the symptoms if you catch it.

I do two tablespoons of Organic Apple Cider Vinegar and one tablespoon of Lemon Juice freshly squeezed in a glass of water.

European Union orders review of daylight saving time

When Ben Franklin proposed it, it was actually as a joke. https://gizmodo.com/ben-franklins-daylight-saving-time-proposal-was-writte-1456363759

When our country adopted it, it was in 1918 when it was adopted. Which I don't get because electricity was beginning to spread wildly and the need for more daylight wasn't really true. Get rid of it I say.

I inherited a FOG server, which I like, but it was setup on Ubuntu. Migrating it over to Fedora right now.

Smart, but I'd just rebuild it and move your images.

PS, FOG works wonders as a VM!

That is actually what I am doing, and of course it is a VM.

Is the system not working correctly?

I am trying to standardize upon Fedora as much as I can.

Second week in my diet and I have lost 14 pounds. I am eating healthy but when you cut out sugar and soda it is amazing how much weight you initially loose right away.

šŸ˜ž Also... wow. I thought he had died a few years ago, lol.

My Grandfather got to meet him years ago, I believe it was in the 1970s. They were about the same age. Billy Graham has not been doing well, healthwise, for a while.

I pulled the trigger on a new (used) car for me last night. Nothing fancy, I hate spending money on cars. 2016 Chevy Spark with only 23K miles. 5,000 dollars. I thought it was a good deal.

Doesn't sound like a bad deal.

That is what I thought. My car had 280,000 miles on it. So I thought it was time. This car should last me till my daughter turns 21, then my child support ends.

      Anybody tried TRF?

I do weight watchers. I just pay 13 dollars a month to use their app, I don't buy anything else. Honestly, the best approach is to eat reasonable food in the correct portions. I am not eating any sugar, or drinking soda. The only things I drink other than water are coffee in the morning and maybe an unsweet ice tea. Instead of red meat, I tend to the leaner meats, poultry. This doesn't mean I don't eat steak or pork. I just plan my diet that day to allow for that type of stuff. It is hard. My wife and I both have been gaining weight, she went to the doctor and was upset about her weight so we both agreed to do something about it. That helps to have someone doing it with you. I have lost 19 lbs but have another 60 to go. So I am nowhere near my goal.

I would never make it, I'm a major Weenie

I was a prison guard for six years. Trust me you will be fine.

Rule number 1 in life... Never trust somebody who says "trust me."

I was the Sergeant of a housing unit, front-line supervisor. I was out in a wing of the housing unit a field mouse runs out into the wing. All these big tough felons, scream and jump on a chair. I mean high pitch screaming and standing on chairs. I started to laugh and nearly wet myself. Then the mouse comes near me, I trap it in a plastic bag and release out back behind the housing unit. Yes I know it probably just came back in but it made the offenders happy. So trust me @Tech1 will be fine.

I have given up all sugar, processed sugar not natural sugar in fruit. Sugar is so damaging to your body and it is so addictive. Honestly it has probably killed more people than tobacco has.

I am down 28 lbs . Should be hitting in the 270s next week. Just posted this in another thread but thought I would here too as it relates here. I have given up all forms of processed sugar. Sugar is so insidious and addictive. I already gave up most sugar, but I recently switched to standard creamer for my coffee and not the flavored sugar filled kind. That was one of the last spots of sugar for me. I am now completely sugar free. I am staying away from restaurants as well, at least as much as I can, and trying to order at restaurants very carefully.

I disagree. I like Cauliflower as a substitute for other things, potatoes, rice etc. The worst vegetable in the world goes to beets, especially if they are pickled. However, I do like beet juice in my home juicer.

@kelly said in Alternatives to Facebook:

I've started to poke around looking for alternatives to Facebook. It is a hard sell to tell people to get off without having a good alternative. Have any of you tried anything else that might replace it, or the parts of it that you use? I looked a little bit at Vero (https://www.vero.co), and it looks promising since they are subscription based. However that is a hard sell still. Thoughts?

Alternative to Facebook.....how about a real life? I have hated Facebook since day one. My friends were all on it and got me to sign up and I saw what a waste it was and how narcissistic it was. I deleted my account after a week. This was many many years ago. If you're my friend, you will call, text, meet up for lunch sometime etc to find out what is happening in my life. I hate social media. I believe a forum like this isn't social media like Facebook is social media. Sure there is a community element to Manglassi but I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for all the tech conversations. Honestly, I am here because it exposes me to tech that I normally wouldn't be exposed to or know about. To know my true feelings listen to Weird Al's song Albuquerque and substitute Facebook for sauerkraut and you got my feelings on Facebook.

Just finished Artemis by Andy Weir, the person who wrote The Martian, which is on my list to read still. Artemis was a really fun book to read/listen to. I only listen to books now while I drive. It is about Earth's first city on the moon. Fun book to read, would totally make a good movie or I think a even better video game.
