Has anyone ever heard of these guys or their parent company Eltima / Electronic Team? It all seems too good to be true but I also recognize that I'm quite cynical after all this time.

Manjaro has some built-in options for open vs proprietary drivers. It's what's running on the desktop that my kid uses for browsing / homework etc and it's just an older optiplex refurb with a basic NVIDIA card. You can even have the live version boot either with open or proprietary drivers from the GRUB menu.

I setup a self-hosted librespeed instance at my prev employer to deal with all the WFH internet foolishness. Then you know that you're testing a known quantity. I'd also managed to script something with their client-side cli and TRMM that would allow the team to remotely speed test without user knowledge or intervention.

Yeah, saw this go by the other day. Good for Yilan, bummer for MC (and TRMM by extension?)

Don't know if anyone is still looking for other options, but I had looked at these guys before and it seemed like a decent product:

They've got a pro version as well as a deepfreeze-like product that automatically reverts to a saved state when the machine is rebooted.

Am I imagining things or did Windows licensing at one point allow for use of a virtual environment on top of the physical install? If this is (still?) the case, would a W10 install in vbox do the trick?

Don't know if anyone else here uses or supports GLPI, but I upgraded our install and there's a bug in the automatic migration when installing the GLPI Inventory Plugin.

Specifically, associating SNMP creds to a network range wasn't working, so SNMP-based network discovery and inventory went titsup (Total Inability To Support Usual Performance)

I wouldn't expect Teamviewer to give you unattended access for free. Heck they start nagging and possible disabling the use if they see you abusing the 'free' option.

This is for a 70+ year old club member for his own personal use between his laptop while in Florida and his home computer... so needs to be super simple and reliable and repeatable and - yea... free. And stupid simple.

Also, I'm not sure whether the free license allows you to wake up system if it goes to sleep.

Honestly doubt that any solution will be able to wake the remote machine if it's in sleep and it's the only client on the far end. The products that I've used or looked at usually rely on another "awake" node at the same site to send WoL. If it's just the 1 machine in FL and 1 machine at home, there's nothing available to kick the sleeping machine... Unless there's something that I'm missing?

Not necessarily a bad way to go, but the best way is going to depend on the sort of workloads these VMs are going to be running.

Someone is no doubt going to chime in to say that Hyper V is basically a dead product at this point and suggest KVM, possibly xcp-ng or proxmox.

If you can configure ALL SSDs that would be ideal, but I'd try to keep the hypervisor on a separate RAID set from the VMs. Ideally you'd have the VMs' OS disks isolated from their working data as well.

Anyone on here using PRTG to monitor Fortigates?

Trying to setup the recently released health sensor but setting up an API user on a fortigate now requires certificate authentication and a peer group which doesn't seem to be documented anywhere that I can find online.

I know that most of the folks on here have a preference for other solutions, but this is the environment I'm in so.....

Digging through the CLI references, I can't seem to gain any traction on getting things to play nice. Figured that I'd ask here before getting FortiNet support or our MSP involved in case it's just me being dense.

Are you using GPOs to mange Chrome? Could the new machine be in a different OU and as such getting different policies applied?
