    • SodiumSuite - Feature Request Email Integration

Apologies if this has already been asked but I did a search and didn't find any relevant posts.

Am ready to migrate to using SodiumSuite for simple ticketing but one big feature I can't find is email integration. By this I mean having the ability to create tickets from emails, notifying admins and users on ticket status changes/comments. Would be great if ticket could be self-assigned or pre-processed based on rules (ie: if from email domain = example.com then assign to Admin2 and set Organization = Example Org). I use Office 365 but being able to use any email address to receive or send would be great.

Is this already on your roadmap?

    • RE: Help fixing Home Wifi Signal Strength

While it's true that 2400 sqft isn't huge, you didn't mention anything about the home construction. Your typical wood frame and drywall construction should not be a problem for the base unit that @JaredBusch suggested but if it's concrete block or steel frame, you may find you'll need to re-examine your options based on the coverage you get.

While this isn't full session replay, Piwik allows you to capture full keystrokes on any website you setup and it's fully free to use. Not something that's advertised but super simple to do and setup.

Another option is Ryver. It allows unlimited guests to participate in channels. And just like Slack, Mattermost or Rocket.Chat, you can choose to only invite them to certain channels. It's completely free to use for the chat features.

    • RE: Vultr now doing Bare Metal.

Curious as to what the advantage of going bare metal would be over getting 4 x dedicated instance (which is 100% of the server according to this - am I reading this right)? And the 4 x dedicated instance, if this is truly the whole server, would be cheaper and get you more bandwidth. Sure, the bare metal has no hypervisor but wouldn't you want virtualized OS anyway? I'm not sure I see the benefit.

We use NextCloud, then only back that up, not the remote user devices.

Are you running your instance of NextCloud in a VPS with extra block storage for your files, or using their enterprise plan?

      We run out own.

Forgive me for seeming thick, but you mean on your own hardware in your office or at a data center?

We never run on premises for production.

I figured not; thus, they're at a colo.

      No, we use cloud computing.

Somehow I'm confused, so you are running your NextCloud in a cloud server instance like Vultr?

      Of course.

I'm assuming you're using the native sync clients? Are you using both Windows and Linux clients or just Linux? I've tried the Windows one on a couple laptops and found that the synching was really clunky and not working well. Have you run into any issues?

@black3dynamite Don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting that you not use Mattermost. In fact, it's been our choice for my team for a few months. But the issue with attachments is something that I hope they'll address in a future release. For now, we use Alfresco for file management and instead of adding attachments to Mattermost, we use links to Alfresco hosted files instead.

Something to keep in mind with Mattermost is that if you plan on using it with attachments, if you delete any message or channel with attachments, the attachments are never removed from the application. You'll end-up with a constantly growing need for space if your use is attachment heavy. That's been confirmed with the Mattermost team. Haven't tested that with Rocket.Chat.

Is Mattermost team working on a fix? Would it be best just blocking the ability to use attachments?

They don't consider it a bug. Here is their response to my question back in August.

That’s to bad. An option button to purge deleted items would be awesome. We have to manually delete them from the database?

Attachments are saved in folders with the same name as the comment and team it is associated with. The problem is that those are server generated IDs and do not use the team names or anything. What you have to do is figure out what items are orphaned items in the database and delete those folders either one at a time or script the process. It's an ugly, manual process that I haven't even had time to look into automating in any kind of useful way.

Now you're just arguing for the sake of arguing so I'm not going to participate in this since logic shows clearly that laws from other countries can be applied to citizens of other countries.

    • RE: SW rant time

@scottalanmiller Even you know this isn't completely true. US laws have been enforced all around the world. That's why there are extradition treaties. Someone can break a US law (easy example is copyright) and be forced to appear in a US court to answer for the US crime against a US company. This also happens the other way around too where other countries have treaties with the US. If you want to find out, read the list of treaties in force https://www.state.gov/s/l/treaty/tif/index.htm

The blanket statement that a foreign law could never be enforced on a US citizen is laughable. I realize you may be making a more precise point but you often like to delve into the minutia of a thing to show how precisely your argument applies. I'm sorry, but in this case, the generality of that last statement simply is false.

Keep in mind my statement is neither in defense of @DustinB3403's statements or yours in argument. This statement applies to your last comment and the general thinking that a foreign law couldn't be enforced on a US (or other) citizen.

I love how so many people think they are experts on GDPR when even the people who wrote the GDPR rules can't clearly explain them. This goes both for people who fully assert that EU rules are enforceable abroad as well as those who couldn't imagine a world where that would be true.

Also love how only the first 10 posts related to the initial SW rant. Hahaha

Popcorn getting stale...I'm just here to watch the show.
