I believe it was called NetDocuments.

I reached out to them today and they are quite reasonable in price in my opinion. They have plugins for Word and Outlook that are intuitive and they have consultants that will take care of the customization for you. That's my issue with SharePoint is that I would have to find a SharePoint consultant.

NetDocs and LaserFiche came up in another forum. I have to try to find a SharePoint developer to see how they compare.

Well, there are four more or less new servers:

      • 2x SuperMicro 4HE 24 Disk HE chassis w/ a single Xeon 2609
      • 2x SuperMicro 2HE two-socket Xeon 2630 w/ 64GB of RAM

I think I will use the 4 HE chassis to build two big NFS stores. I could easily attach JBODs later.

Please share the final hardware build sheet on this. I'm guessing the stack of drives will cost more than the chassis.

Sharepoint seems like the obvious choice here, not cheap but designed like exactly for this.

To do the case number generation, is that a work flow?

    • Cloud based Document Management System

I have a client with 4 people that are on a really old on prem database that they are using as a document management system. They primarily create reports in Word for clients and need to be able to retrieve them by date/who did the report/client, etc. I don't see them doing much in the way of creating workflows or any advanced stuff. The only thing keeping me from just recommending OneDrive (or the like) is that the system needs to generate case numbers that they can put on invoices. (I'm working on that requirement to see if it's really needed, but that's what their current system does, so that's what they are asking for.) Can anyone recommend a cloud based system?

Thanks for reporting back. Glad it worked without too much trouble. So you went from a DS series to a DX series and it was pretty much plug and play?

Has nothing to do with layers. They serve completely different functions.

Correct. What analogy would you use to talk to a non technical person about all the things we do in the name of security?

I see what you're saying. What's the alternative then? How do you explain to a non technical client you need a firewall at the gateway and a firewall on the computer?

When talking with a customer you bring up this term when they say something like "Do I need a firewall or antivirus?"

I wouldn't because it means nothing. It's a FUD term. If they knew what it meant, they'd point out that they already have layered protection. Since they already have the thing that you are saying that AV or firewall's provide, it would have the reverse effect.

Your client and mine are probably very different. I have to take the time to explain that just because they have a firewall doesn't mean they don't need antivirus.

    • RE: Job Title? Not sure here...

If you wanted a certain title, why would they say no? It sounds like your company is small enough that it doesn't really matter.

I would agree with @IRJ that you don't see "head of" much anymore.

    • RE: ScreenConnect download file from script

@dashrender said in ScreenConnect download file from script:

So who submitted (based on what recommendation) for a sonicwall when the grant was requested?

The grantor came up with that. The agency only filled out a form that said how many full and part time people they had doing certain functions and the grant had a formula that said how many of each model number of different pieces of equipment you got. They even speced a printer that isn't available through normal channels. (discontinued) The printer was probably the dumbest thing because they already had a large multifunction copier on each floor. No need for the printer at all, but it didn't matter. Then they send auditors to visit the site and make sure it's plugged in.

These things baffle me, but at the end of the day you take them because if you accept the SonicWall you get all the other gear on the grant. It's frustrating to say the least because I can't standardize the agency because different grants specify different gear.

Like I said it's real frustrating watching money get wasted like that. Government agencies have no incentive to do things to save money. Politicians only pat themselves on the back for money that gets thrown at one group or another.

I was wondering what grant money had to do with it - unless the grant specifically said it had to be SonicWall? or no other filtering solution was less?

Yes, the grant specifically specified a SonicWall. I can't use the money and put in an Edge Router with OpenDNS. They actually have auditors come out and see that the equipment is installed. It's so frustrating on so many levels as a tax payer...

      2. must have content filtering

@dbeato What issues have you had? I have a new SonicWall going in and would like to avoid those issues if possible. It's one of those install it over night and it needs to work in the morning cut overs. Cut is scheduled for Thursday. We tested it last week with a Windows 10 and Windows 7 client.
