But for a misunderstanding over 100 years ago, my lastname would be Blackpool, infinitely more bad-ass haha

@scottalanmiller better still, IIRC they make a kind of crunchy clicky noise as you flatten them out (like squishing a bug)

Preferred Interface Devices?posted in IT Discussion
Until the below image represents a thing that works reliably, what do you use to interface with your 'puter?
I'm a fan of the Logitech M570 trackball for work (mouse for most gaming)
I also enjoy a mechanical keyboard but they're of... dubious value unless you're a hard core typist I think. Very nice to have though, and I would recommend the one I got (RAZER BLACKWIDOW ULTIMATE)

Hey Joy, did you find out why they were asking for this? Did they watch a webconference or something that recommended it?

RE: When is an IT project not an IT project?posted in IT Discussion
It's tough to cultivate buy-in from other departments sometimes, you have to find their "hot button" and exploit it.
Example: Customer service mgr is paid bonus to reduce wait time; "hey CSM, want to make bonus easy? train your dude(tts) on this software"

Nope.I spent a week once in Winnipeg, MB - it got to -30c (near enough -25f). Went out for a smoke after working for a few hours next to a huge oven that fired toilets, just soaked in sweat. By the time I finished my smoke (one does not lollygag about in -30c) my jeans froze.

Terrible news. Further reading about the specific mechanism (or lack there of) for the curious.

TL;DR - it wasn't the bile that killed them. -
RE: Competitors for Exabloxposted in IT Discussion
Well, I have two units arrived now and setup. What tests would you like to see done to these?
I have the usual array of I/O testing programs* lined up & 1TB of hot fresh and nasty user data being dumped onto them.

Received the exablox oneblox units and they're setup in the "ring" now. Still highly dubious of any product that I can't find a single bad review or issue with. Time will tell and the abuse of these two will begin soon.

@scottalanmiller I wish I could say the same, XP is a very recent memory here. Had the building's security computer blow it's mobo this morning, now I need to get the data off of it. Of course it's not only IDE but yet another lurking XP box....

RE: What Are You Doing Right Nowposted in Water Closet
Trying to sort through our pile of crap to recycle, looking desperately for a working mobo with IDE... Sigh.
