Haven't been able to take lunch yet. Not sure if I'm going to get to either. =( sad because I'm dreaming of a nice steak.

Got a whole warehouse full of steaks. What kind would you want? NY strips? Sirloin? T-Bone? I also have a professional kitchen at my disposal. How do you want it cooked? Sous vide? On the grill?

Largest ribeye you've got, follow Rojo's cooking instructions.

Speaking of ribeye, I got my dad to pick these up for me before Easter from their local butcher shop:

      0_1493413680427_IMG_20170408_141402_260.jpg

All "cowboy cut", i.e. at least 2 inches thick. 1.7lb was the small one. Vacuum sealed and ready for the sous vide. And on sale, too.

      Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit

Living in an ultra-liberal hippy dippy town has it's downsides - lack of good butchers & the ones that are here charge through the eyeballs.

Come on down anytime, bud. Meat and guns are plentiful in Georgia.

I may just take you up on that some day. I enjoyed South Carolina (humidity aside) and I bet Georgia is even nicer.

Is that legal up there, to just kill a bear? If you happen across one.

With a hunting license, appropriate tag etc absolutely.

      https://wildsafebc.com/black-bear/

BC boasts one of the highest populations of black bears in the world with their numbers being somewhere between 120 and 150 thousand animals. Pretty much all of BC is considered β€œbear country” with bears inhabiting everything from the coastal forests, through to the interior grasslands. From north to south and east to west in this province you’ll have a chance to see black bears.

So my question is - why didn't they build receivers for that old tech into modern cell phones? If a AA can last 3-4 weeks, then having that antenna there and software listening for it shouldn't put much strain on the system... perhaps there isn't room? /sigh

Because pagers don't send - that's why it works so good. Two way ones do exist though.

You don't like the taste of plastic?

Plastic is fine but they made it so that the handle at the top requires a cut out which means you put the plunger in at an angle and then spill grounds down the front of it into the bottom plastic bit which means you have to clean the frigging thing every time you use it. RAWR

Is the actual plunger plastic or just the outside?

How many households still have their biological father in them? How many kids still live one, if not both, of their biological parents? How many children are being raised by a family member that is not their biological parent?

We are the first era to know who the biological father was. It's believed that the family unit is strengthening, not decaying. The past wasn't that idealogical. You can make lots of fine arguments that family units are not strong. but I don't think that you can make that argument in the relative sense to the past.

We are, for example, the generation with the lowest teen pregnancy rates, ever. So many assumed social problems of the past are effectively gone today. The past wasn't the rosy place that we imagine, not one hundred years ago, not a thousand years ago.

Since you brought it up, why is teen pregnancy a bad thing?

How about destroying one's chances of furthering education as a start. Insufficient income would be next....

Since you brought it up, why is teen pregnancy a bad thing? From what I can tell, mostly because society (people) have deemed it so. Of course biologically, we are living much longer than we did 100 years ago, and definitely a lot longer than 500 years ago, so the need to jump right into having children to keep the species alive is no longer there, but biologically I thought we were, as a species, designed to have children in the teenage years?

Moral dictates that we are married before having kids.

      Speak for yourself eh
