    • Reputation required to downvote?

I just came across a spam post relating to Excel password recovery and noted that both posts were downvoted -2 so I figured I'd add to that.

Unfortunately, I've been informed that : "You do not have enough reputation to downvote this post"
Not that I use this feature but was curious what the reputation requirements are.

As per the above but to migrate the desktops, use Transwiz. Takes 1 minute to migrate the user profile from the old domain to the new.

    • RE: Invoke-WebRequest sometimes fails to connect to https

@JaredBusch said in Invoke-WebRequest sometimes fails to connect to https:

The request was aborted: Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel.

Could this be a TLS issue? Perhaps the version of PowerShell on one computer is using TLS1 and the others are using TLS1.2?

Your site appears to support 1.2 and 1.3 only so perhaps the following added to your PS script before the WebRequest will work:

      [Net.ServicePointManager]::SecurityProtocol = "tls12"

    • RE: I can't even

Thanks for calling My Company. Remember that I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. I'd suggest you leave a message because what I do have is very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you leave a message now that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you, but if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you and I will kill you.

    • RE: Windows 10 Performance tweaks

@pmoncho : I have to ask: why? I understand if you're using Windows 8.1 or the first couple versions of Windows 10 with the weird start menu but with current revisions the start menu differs very little from Windows 7. Turn off the groups on the right hand side and it's just a more modern skin to the old...

    • RE: MeshCentral 2 - unknown device michael-7-x64

This is an AV sandbox performing a scan and run on this application.
Happens regularly when deploying various remote management tools to devices with AV.
You'll get some Microsoft VMs, Bitdefender automated machines, Kaspersky, etc...

It looks as though this SPECIFIC device name is from Bitdefender's sandbox :

White label / branding / removal of everything that says InvoiceNinja costs, iirc, $20 a year.

@travisdh1 : Very good point. Router reboot changes nothing. I'll send someone on site to connect to the modem directly and see if it's an ISP issue or that terrible SonicWall.

      Thanks!

    • RE: [Solved] All computers cannot access 1 specific site

@travisdh1 : I'd have to agree with you on that one. I really dislike having to create address objects, service objects, etc and then assigning those to the specific NAT and Firewall groups.
Just clunky to change something (like a port forward) for something that should take 2 seconds.

    • RE: Domain Profile Copy; old to NEW

Don't even move it. Just use Profwiz User Profile Wizard to change the SID stuff in the registry.
Takes like 2 minutes and with thousands of devices I've never had an issue.
P.S. If it's a one off or so I'll just use the "free for non commercial" use version ( I know... ). If it's a batch I'll buy the licenses. It's about $150 for 50 computers. The commercial version can also be scripted quite easily to run from an RMM, PDQ Deploy, etc.

    • RE: Two or three screens. what is your choice? or just one.

We use 3x QHD 27" monitors when space allows.
4k requires too much windows "scaling" (read: blurry) for this size of screen whereas QHD at 100% scaling with browser zoom set to 125% is just about perfect for most of us.

@JaredBusch : I just wanted to say THANKS for posting all of that FreePBX how-to info. With it I was able to procure a DID, setup an IVR, configure routes, etc. I even managed to configure an inbound route set to go to a DISA (pin protected) for the cell phones!

Your notes were very detailed and a ton of help.

      Again, thanks for posting that!

Pretty much every province has a requirement that cars need to be certified/"safetied" as well as emissions tested. Except, at this time, Alberta -- though they're trying to change that.
