Here is a suck ass bit against Jitsi.

There is no control over your camera. I have my camera mounted above my desk on a flexible arm so that when I am in meetings, it can be positioned such that while I am looking at the screen, my eyes are also looking at the camera.

Most things I use allow one to rotate the camera within the application. Not Jitsi. Fedora has no settings for USB cameras in the OS. So I have no way to change this outside of the application.

Can you rotate the stream using ffmpeg and set it up as another camera source?

I was looking into that over the weekend, but I didn't have time to implement anything.

While searching how to manage cams from Linux, I stumbled on to this project. Probably overkill if ffmpeg can help rotating the camera.

                Why not turn the camera?

I can't really tell from the picture if you can't.

The mount is not set that way, like the camera holder is for the bottom of the camera. He can certainly move the mount but then it would be in his way.

                    The mount cannot.

I worked around it by completely unfolding the camera. That is also annoying as it takes more space, but does work.

@JaredBusch I like how you think about the camera placement.
BTW, have you installed SIP as well on Jitsi?

I've been lazy. I just spin up an old snapshot on Vultr every two weeks for my D&D game. I need to start from scratch with new versions of everything.

This has long been a minor pet peeve of mine. When presenting/speaking, your eyes should be just off from the camera. As if someone was standing next to it.

I'm not sure which is worse, staring directly at the camera or staring sideways/down at the screen.

And you have a small ring light too.

I specifically bought this mount because it had that. I have to wear my fedroa when presenting. It is part of me after all 😜 so I need a front light.

It seems like you could find a rectangular plate say 2"x 5" that was tapped to the threading needed to attach one end to the camera boom and place the camera "right side up" on the other. You could probably make yourself one cheap if you had the right sized Drill and tap.

Solving issues like this through garage engineering is like crack to me. Sorry to barge in on your thread. I need an intervention.
