I am a real Hubspot fan (of their content, don't actually use their software at this stage), this should give some points to work from.
Another point is to make sure they are making the most of Facebook/Twitter, having conversations, monitoring customer feedback etc, and using the social nature of it to build relationships.
Bloging regularly, keeping your website alive with fresh content will encourage Google to look at it harder.

Hit and miss sounds about right. We use re-manufactured, and we had some issues with both HPs not that long ago which the tech promptly blamed on the toners. Seemed unlikely with the noise it was making, nonetheless once we whacked in two separate new ones, it cheered up. So....? Genuines are still crazily expensive.

Firefox for almost everything.
Chrome for websites that crash sometimes in Firefox.
IE for some internal things (CCTV etc) that won't work in anything else.

I still find Chrome a bit ugly compared to Firefox, but I think it's getting better. Or maybe my eyes are
