Exactly, I wonder what possessed them to create one now.

So I have been collecting a rather large bookmark library over the past 2-3 years with all of my Chrome browsing. So if you are interested, here's the HTML file, lots of good stuff.
Bill's_Bookmark_Dump_3_31_14.html
Thanks! I'm going to have to check it out!
Good luck with that Yahoo! I think it's going to fail really really hard. http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9247334/Yahoo_reportedly_launching_YouTube_rival

I was recently called the "next Scobble"
Maybe that isn't a good thing.
I wouldn't say it's a bad thing. Scobble has alot of intresting things to say alot of the time. Sometimes people agree with him sometimes they don't.
This is one of those times I will call BS on his article.
Google Glass is not Virtual Boy.
I also thing that it is going to be great! Hopefully it's not too expensive when it comes out because I want a pair!
Anyone know any Microsoft MVPs? I think it would be quite an honor, but I'm not sure how much work it is to get one or even where to start. How much could receiving the award help your career?

They've been talking up a faster release schedule for a while now. Expect a new OS to roll out every 2-3 years now if not sooner. I'm just hoping that 2012 R2 isn't too old by the time I get certified.
That's one reason I don't like some of the MS certs, although they aren't as expensive as alot of other certs.
Well, in order for most businesses to upgrade on a cycle like that, MS is counting on the economy getting way better. Investing thousands (even more than that for most SMB's and up) upgrading OS'es every 2 years isn't something that's going to go over very well. Which ironically, plays into their selling of cloud services with Office 365, Azure, etc.
Sneaky little..... Well played Microsoft.

I can't facebook with it? Really? I call BS on the whole article. It's only been out for what? a year? People aren't developing for it because it's not mass available like their Android OS is. Where do they get some of these "Tech" bloggers?
I thought it was a interesting read, because I've never really seen Scoble say anything bad about Google glass. It should be interesting to see what happens with glass.

If you are just backing up VMs look at Veeam and Unitrends. I have used both of them, and both were pretty good. Veeam was the winner for us because of its ease of use and quick restore of VMs
We currently use Veeam and we plan on staying with them, but I was just wondering about backup exec. We used to use BE and planned to upgrade to BE 2012 but when we started using it, it was just sooo bad we moved to Veeam.
We followed the same path as you and couldnt be happier. My IT deportment was all Symantec when I started here. I slowly got rid of all their crappy products... PC Anywhere, BackupExec, and SEP.
When I first showed my boss Veeam, he was in disbelief how easy it was.
PC anywhere was a awesome product back in the day and then it just kinda of went away.

We still use SEP and I cant wait until we switch. I think that we are going to go with Webroot when we do.
I think that if Microsoft Office ever comes to Linux, alot of people would be more willing to make the change.

Wow, I finally found the end of this thread!
I'm Chad from Novi Michigan. You may recognize my pic though it ain't me. I love having a community of IT folk to learn from and I hope I can contribute. Outside of my professional work I am serious reader who can't wait to get hold of the new Richard Preston book. I have a puppy and a Redwood tree. Two redwoods actually, and I plan to plant one of them in the wild and the other is staying at home as an experiment in what could possibly go wrong?
When I'm not in work mode I enjoy a good bit of fun reading, hanging with our friends and this may shock some of you, inappropriate humor.
Welcome Chad!

Thank You this awesome journal i used to read this before 2 years ago.
I agree. Great site!
Review Request: Current version of Symantec Backup Exec, for awhile there it was really bad. I was wondering if it has been improved at all.

I am actually going to seriously consider this as a replacement for XP. It might challenge me to break out of my mold, but my company loves free and I see an opportunity to learn a lot.
I'll let you know what happens!
Good luck. I have a good feeling that everything will work out. You might hear a couple complaints early, but after time goes on it will be better for everyone.
