you could use xo for your vm backups. and veeam endpoint for your files. I do this essentially in hyper-v. Except I use altaro. I dont think altaro offers Xen support... If they did, it's tits.

RE: Do you offer network assessments for free?
when i worked for a big ole consulting firm, we would do an environment assessment as a sales tool(free) for medium business. for small business we would offer said assessment, bill an hour or two to complete the assessment, and create a report with our findings. Then they would pick/choose the things they wanted to address. Now, that i'm a lone wolf, I do not work for free....

RE: Major Printer Server Problems
and have you tried to print directly from a workstation to the printer? set it up local via IP and see if it works. This almost seems like a joke post? or maybe you've already started drinking?

RE: Gaming - What's everyone playing / hosting / looking to play
so The Division is addictive. the PvE world is great, keeps you busy. then there's a PvE/PvP zone with some rules in place that make it very fun and stressful. gather gear from NPCs and you can hunt other players, which then puts a bounty on your head. You've got to extract gear before you get killed and lose it all.... it's just fun.

RE: Do you charge up front for a job?
I essentially am a freelancer. I'm a 1 man business, and i'm net 30. That being said, flat fee projects are something I do, and when i'm billing a flat fee, usually there is a 1/2 upon starting the project, and 1/2 when deliverables are.... delivered. i've only had a few clients not pay up within their 30 day window.... which for a small guy like myself is not fun.
Now, this situation you're saddled with seems to not be any fun at all. Sorry you're having bad luck with a "local".
Local, do what you said you'd do. We all in some way or anothe rhelp each other out on this site. You being all willy nilly makes it harder to trust each other.... so just be legit

RE: Any providers ever WISP'd?
yeah, @travisdh1 sounds like you've not priced goodies in a while. while 1K seems low, i'd think 10K would atleast get you started

RE: Ads on sites
believe the hype... buy some sort of green egg spin off. Komodo are great and less $$$. It's what we will do next more than likely. Our current outdoor kitchen has a big stainless gas grill. it's OK. but man, those igloo charcoal grills are sick. and, ads suck lol.
