The Shannara Chronicles
So I started watching this series yesterday on Netflix (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Shannara_Chronicles). It is an "adaptation" of Terry Brooks' Elfstones of Shannara. I'm disappointed. I figured that since it has been around two decades since I read the book I wouldn't have any issues with book to tv/movie translations, but this series is too much.
Here is what I imagine the preproduction conversation went like:
"Hey, Game of Thrones is wildly successful. What other fantasy series can we get to make a TV series out of?"
<months of research>
"This Elfstones of Shannara is ok if you like books. I think it needs more sex and drama though."
"I agree. And this whole plot thing? It doesn't have nearly enough plot holes. We need more plot holes."
"You're right, plot holes are what the masses clamor for. I've heard that nerds hate realistic timelines too. We should just randomly grab timespans because they sound cool."I'm not a fan at this point. I've made it 4 or 5 episodes in, and the flaws are just mind boggling. I can suspend some amount of disbelief, but this is beyond the pale. It is worse than what JJ Abrams did to Star Trek. Anyone else seen it and care to comment?

Abandoning a legacy domain and switching over to a new domain. It isn't going to be a lot of work on the client side (95% Macs), but getting all the various services that depend on AD for authentication is going to be "fun".

Taking a look at Hawken
Big BattleTech fan, but I need something faster than MWO right now. Warframe keeps crashing constantly on my machine...
Uninstalled
That was quick.
Yeah, expected something ... better? Felt a bit odd, just two weapons, that item stuff, self-repair and what not..
Check out Overwatch! Costs some money but a really fun game if you like team based shooters.
On the list, but I'm not a big Blizzard fan (anymore). Not they are not creating great games, but all the microtransactions... I would happily spend money for a great game, but I hate ingame shops. Even more if they sell anything beyond cosmetic upgrades.
I'm currently looking for a team-based shooter where teamplay is actually important.
Then you'll love Overwatch. Team play is a requirement, which can make PUGs frustrating, and the in-game store only sells cosmetic items that you can get through play. It reminds of TF2 when there weren't as many hats.
I might take a look. Thanks. Anything else coming to mind?
If only there was a Battlefield: Bad Company 3... sigh

RE: Copying Content from other sources
I understand that there are consideration beyond what I am privy to, but it seems peculiar that another site can make a request, but you cannot name them. Not that I think the identity is in doubt, but how can anyone be expected to follow a guideline if it cannot be clearly delineated?

@thanksajdotcom I find your apparent lack of caring about your online perspectives incongruous in light of your proposed session at SWA2015. You might want to reconsider some of the things that are now publicly tied to your "brand".

I don't necessarily recommend people mimic how I post or all my actions. My presentation is more about utilizing professional networks to network yourself with vendors and companies. In addition, it talks about other ways to market yourself as a brand. My brand is different from someone else's. I don't claim everything I do is right or the best way. However, a lot of people from a lot of different places know my name. I will soon be published on a very major website in the IT world. While I may get criticized for some of the things I say, I've been very successful for someone my age. I've worked very hard to become so. As much as people may not believe it, I work very hard and very carefully to maintain what I've built.
Right now your "brand" is associated with unethical practices. It doesn't matter what you tell people to do if your own brand is tarnished. What happens if, after you've been published, some people go searching your name, hit this thread, and get you blackballed from the major IT rags. That isn't beyond the realm of possibility. In all honesty the more well known you become the more scrupulously you have to guard your brand from hints of this stuff.

Windows 10 Mobile
Ah I didn't realize they actually pushed that out to some phones. I thought it was just a couple phones and then it died.
There haven't been a lot of new phones that have been released that come with it natively, but many of the later 8.1 Nokia handsets can, and do.
By the time I gave up my Lumia 650XL AT&T still hadn't pushed out the Windows 10 upgrade (June 2016).
I bypassed the carrier. With the Insider app you can get your updates directly from Microsoft.
Yeah I did that with my old 550, and it was great until Jan of 2016 update which made my phone all but useless. I flashed back to 8.1 and didn't look back.
By the time I was ready to give up on ATT (last June) and do what you did - Insider program - Instead I bought a Nexus 6P for my trip and haven't bothered going back.
My $40 Lumia 640 has a few quirks, but I can deal with them for the price/performance I get.

RE: Best Android Exchange Client
@Minion-Queen Make sure the 525 is updated to WP8.1. There are some significant improvements moving from WP8 to WP8.1. The 525 might come with 8.1 natively though, I can't remember.

I just picked up Endless Legend at 75% off. If you like fantasy 4X, this is one of the best. So excited for the kids to be in bed so I can play more than the preview I tried a while ago.

Could Continuum on Windows Phone change the way you or your business computes?
For those of you who have been following Build 2015 you might've already seen this, but for the rest of you...
Microsoft announced on Wednesday that they are integrating Continuum into the Windows 10 for Phones platform. Continuum is their engine for resizing applications to the current display whether it is 4 inches or 50 inches. While in itself a neat thing, the part that made my jaw hit the floor was when Joe Belfiore demonstrated a Windows Phone connected to an external monitor, BT keyboard, and BT mouse. Using the familiar mouse/keyboard interface he was interacting with the applications installed on the phone that were scaling up to the 27" (ish) display he was using. While the phone still cannot run Win32 applications, for many people in my organization they don't need anything beyond MS Office, a web browser, and Citrix. If I could get people down from 2-4 devices to just one it would be amazing for them.
At this point we don't know what devices will be needed to run this as they haven't been announced. The only thing that is known for certain is that current phones will not be able to connect to the external display in the way that was demonstrated. Hopefully they will be able to utilize Continuum when they're upgraded and then you can utilise Miracast or something similar.

Well, the Civ VI manual is 192 pages. They made some significant changes, so for my breaks tomorrow I'll actually be reading a game manual for the first time in a very long time.

If you order it from the Microsoft Store you get it with a clean install without any of the typical OEM bloat/adware.

RE: Vehicle recommendations
If you can find a low mileage one, Saturns are still amazing. The best part is that since GM killed them off (still salty about that one), the resale value on them is really low. On the other hand their build quality is generally exceptionally high. My 2003 Ion has about 150k miles, and we've put almost no work into it. It is built like a tank, weighs a ton (probably more literally than figuratively), and it still gets ~30 mpg in town.
