Yeah sounds like EMC very well may have been making an expectation for us then since we spend so much with them on VMAX, Unity VSA etc.

You can also use EMC ScaleIO for free with your own hardware if you use the community for support https://www.emc.com/products-solutions/trial-software-download/scaleio.htm (or you can buy the software or pre-configured dell servers with it).

For commercial use, too? How did I not know that they had opened this up?

Yes, the EULA has no restrictions on that. Their marketing terms of course try to convey you should " When you are ready to purchase a ScaleIO software license for full production use and maintenance, contact a Sales Associate" but the EULA has nothing requiring it.

This isn't true. Don't get yourself intro trouble with misuse! You can't use it for production and you have to let EMC know you evaluate with a prod use in mind. That's EVERYTHING but free... IMHO.

      https://www.emc.com/content/terms/eula-scaleio.htm

      E. “Internal Business Purposes” means an internal (non-commercial) Use for the purpose(s) of testing and demonstrating the features of the Software, and not for Customer product development, product testing, or other Customer research and development or commercial purposes.

You are reading that incorrectly. That's just definitions, not the terms. Our EMC rep already confirmed it to us.

Will uBlock (or any ad blocker) get rid of that nonsense?

You can probably remove that overlay element unless it isn't the article behind it.

There isn't. It's a paragraph of text in the code and that's it

      Smart Queue

I does not help with specific ports/protocols. So it won't necessarily help VOIP traffic (but, may just based on packet size). It's based on current usage, packet size, etc. Smaller packets will get higher prioritization, bigger ones will get less.

I built it on my lab to play with it, and it works, just not sure on the use cases in reality

Use case is pretty much any shop that needs AD but has not existing Windows dependency.

You can still use it for Servers with windows desktops. Eliminates the need for server licenses and CALs. You can still do GroupPolicy as well. I've set it up for a few non-profits before.

The mac versions used to be better and adobes primary focus.

Now the windows version is their main one and mac is a port. This changed about the time adobe premier pro gained professional acceptance and apple dropped Final Cut Pro 7 for Final Cut Pro X which wasn't professional. apple is no longer he pressional choice. Heck you can't even do render farms on macs anymore and while I love iOS, MacOS X really needs a complete.

Source: me. An Adobe professionals voices memeber and beta tester. (Along with Avid, and formerly apple Final Cut Pro)

The adoption of LTE, which as I understand it use a universal set of frequencies, but I might be completely wrong, is what allows the phones to roam more freely today than in the past. But if you're in an area that doesn't have LTE, you might be stuck without service because of lack of frequency support.

Not really true there as plenty of LTE Bands and not all phones support all of them.

Works with is true. But I'm pretty sure that most of those phones only support a narrow subset of the CDMA frequencies (same might go for the GSM frequencies).

Not with iphones 6, 6s etc. for example you can take an AT&T Iphone from GSM, unlock it then use it on Verizon CDMA.

Granted it may not work in other countries.

What do you mean no Verizon version? They were unlocked phones there is no carrier version. Just like unlocked iPhones they work on all carriers GSM or CDMA.

Sure, but Verizon still has it's own frequencies that no other carriers use. LTE I think is pretty open, but the rest aren't - I need to dig into it more to get a full understanding.

Yes.. but these support them. Almost every carrirer has some different frequncies. Cellphones now days have dual radios to handle them. Nexus has supported them for a while the 6 was even offically supported by verizon.

Same goes for the iphone there is only one model iphone that works with them all.

That is not true. There were, as of the iPhone 5s, different models of iPhone based on carrier frequencies. I have not personally looked into it on an iPhone 6, 6s, or 7.

Edit: In fact to support my point there is specifically an iPhone 7 for the Japanese market alone with the FeliCa NFC standard.

I was specifically talking about US carriers the Iphone 6, 6s etc all work with US GSM and CDMA carriers.

Exactly - so by using an external filter caused your outage.

Not sure that really classifies as an "outage" it was only one of their many IPs on the list.. it affected all of 3 emails outbound from us.
