      @garak0410 The wired unit shouldn't be isolated. I have had this many times. The only solution for us was to SSH to the unit and factory reset it, then re-adopt it.

      Since you have the IP of both, you should be able to SSh to both. If not, you'll need a paper clip ๐Ÿ˜ž

      There are a few options and that aren't that difficult

      CloneZilla
      While Linux based - is not difficult to use, and if you follow the prompts (Read them unlike me) It's easy.

      I use CloneZilla with CloneZilla SE (Server) to do this. Just make sure you can boot to PXE or leave a USB onsite for other people to stick in and power on.

      Hint: With Wake-On-Lan and PXE we reimage PCs at schools all the time without ever going there. Takes only a few minutes to get a PC back up and running. ๐Ÿ˜€

      The tech recruiting company will pay 25/hour , no paid days off,
      ...

      @pmoncho said in Job offer:

      I think we would need to figure out the % of "raise?" A possible 30% raise may/may not be worth the risk.

      32% not including the overtime.

      @wrcombs said in Job offer:

      On average I get anywhere from 5-10 a pay period for on call

      So $25/hr @ New Job - 6$/hr (more than current job) = $19/hr @ Current Job
      OT = $28.50/hr ($19*1.5) @ Current Job
      5-10 hrs/week in OT; let's use 7.5hrs/wk @ Current Job
      7.5hrs/wk = $213.75/wk in OT @ Current Job
      $213.75/wk รท 40hrs/wk = $5.34/hr in OT at Current Job

      The new job ($25/hr) without any possibility of OT is almost exactly the same wage as the current job with OT ($24.34/hr).
      This is a 2.5% increase in pay.

      Not worth the risk.

      I like his idea of staying put and continuing the job search.

      We're a Sonicwall house. I would install a TZ270 Advanced with the DPI-SSL add-on.

      SONICWALL TZ270 TOTALSECURE - ADVANCED EDITION 1YR SKU: 02-SSC-6843 = $694.00
      SONICWALL DPI SSL UPGRADE LICENSE FOR SOHO SERIES SKU: 01-SSC-0723 = $212.80

    • RE: Looking for simplest/secure setup for connecting a domain joined computer to corporate network when remote

      @dave247 said in Looking for simplest/secure setup for connecting a domain joined computer to corporate network when remote:

      The main problem I have run into is sort of a catch-22 in that, while remote, the user can't login until the VPN client has started and the user can't start the VPN client until they are logged in (duh). That means, an employee would take the laptop home and try to sign in with their domain user account but not be able to since the domain would be unreachable until the VPN gets connected.

      I use this exact same setup for all of our clients. It works perfectly.

      Tell me. When you start up the Laptop, and once you press <CTRL>-<ALT>-<DEL> to login, BUT BEFORE you authenticate, do you see the extra icon in the lower right corner?
      0f415143-bdc6-4061-a610-adece13d3a40-image.png

      And do you see this NetExtender logon when you click it?
      ec06ab38-28e8-4459-bcc2-808f505dc97a-image.png

      It will bring you here next. Building the VPN BEFORE authenticating to the domain.

      This should all work for you without any issues.

      @jasgot - What value do you have set for MaximumAttachmentSize? Value is set in KB so make sure you have the appropriate number. If that looks good then possibly try a reboot after modifiying the value.

      Can attach up to 10MB after reboot.

    • Outlook cannot attach files larger than about 1MB

      Recent migration to on-prem Exchange 2019.

      SOME users, using different versions of Outlook, are getting an attachment size error.
      So far it is Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2016

      f278d820-ff62-43b9-9291-3fb471be1715-image.png

      The Exchange server connectors are set for 50MB send and receive.
      MS Outlook 2010 and above default to 20MB
      I have tried the Registry setting of:
      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Preferences\MaximumAttachmentSize

      I have read that when Exchange is in use, Outlook doesn't use the default size limit of 20MB OR the Registry setting above.

      I'm stumped.
      Is there any other place attachment size restrictions can be set?

      I have some users NOT having any problems.

      The same troubled users CAN log in via OWA and attach the file without any issues.

      So I'm sure it is a workstation specific issue.

      Any thoughts?

      @dafyre said in Nextcloud 23:

      Also, from what I gather, if your system is an upgrade, it doesn't show up as "Nextcloud Office" if you install Collabora on your own.

      I got it working. They need to streamline their naming conventions.

      I had never install any office or Collabra tools before; and the only think I could find in the app store was Collabra Office, and Collabra Server CODE.

      There wasn't anything about NextCloud Office.

      So I installed the CODE Server, and that wasn't much good until I also install Collabra Office.

      Now that those two Collabra items are installed, I see NextCloud Office all over in my Nextcould interface.

      You'd think they would use the same name for everything and outline the steps somewhere to get is all installed properly. Sheesh!

      Starting a complete domain migration of 1100+ workstations. New Domain, New File Servers, New Exchange Server. Gonna be pretty busy for the foreseeable future. Oh, and redesigning the whole printing infrastructure.

      Done!
      About 25 hours of hands-on over four days. Did not physically visit any of the 7 locations.
      We are thankful for BackStage and Powershell!

      A few minor issues along the way.....
      Of the 1100+ workstation migrations:

      โ€ข We had to re-install MS Office on four of them.
      โ€ข We had to manually move redirected folders back to the laptop on 6 of 15 that were at remote locations and using redirected folders.
      โ€ข We had to re-write one script to handle application settings for one mission critical app that exists on every PC. The script provided by the software company was unreliable.
      โ€ข We missed two users during account creation in the new domain, so we handled that on the fly.
      โ€ข We misspelled one user's name during account creation in the new domain, so we handled that on the fly.
      โ€ข We usually use Code Two for mail migration. On this project, we had a hiccup and ended up scripting the mailbox export and import for all 1100+ users. After a successful setup and test of the Code Two software, we ran Windows updates on the new Exchange server and the updates broke Code Two. The killer part was that no matter what we tried, we could not uninstall the two updates that gave of this trouble. So, another PS script to the rescue!

      All in all....Piece of cake and smooth as silk!

      @jasgot said in GPO or GPP printer setup in light of all this printing nightmare stuff?:

      @jasgot All good ideas, thanks.

      I wrote an install script for every printer on the network, users can go to a share and run the installer they want. The installer installs the printer as a TCPIP printer, no AD or Print servers involved.

      I will go back to GPPs when M$ gets their act together.

      We are so tired of fixing printing problems.....

      I backed up the scripted used at the State for Follow-You print; it installed, set the printer as default and then sent it a test page. Helpful for initial training to use Follow You Print.

      Can you share?
