Also, how do you know WHERE to put the cameras? Obviously it's on a case-by-case basis, but say I have a regular rectangular house. How do I cover the entire outside while also keeping an eye on all the cameras?
Do you need 360degree viewing?
Most systems will have a software viewer, just install on a PC and let it run. Also some will have mobile apps.

It's hard to describe "good enough." For what works, I find it consistently better. The issues are around a Windows limitation normally - like needing to use specific Windows software already in place. If that limitation does not exist, I've not found any Linux desktop downsides yet.
This is my problem is working out what I use and if there is an Linux alternative/version. Problem is some devices here are "broken" so things like the web interface doesn't work so I have to use the management software that is windows only, but once they are "fixed/replaced" the move could be done I guess.
What devices are you having issues with?
You name it we have issues lol, ongoing battle to update and replace old stuff with better stuff. Switches, Firewalls, Servers (both physical and Virtual)

RE: My Journey to Becoming a Linux End User on Linux Mint
I've thought of trying this many times but never thought Linux was good enough as an alternative. But as you said, if things like Office365 work fine on web browser and you have ownclud/onedrive/dropbox etc things look a lot better.

RE: Installing Snipe-IT on CentOS 7 and MariaDB

Trying to turn this into a single command install (assuming UTC time zone like I like to use):
setenforce 0 && yum -y install epel-release; mkdir -p /var/www/html; cd /var/www/html/; wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/snipe/snipe-it/master/install.sh && chmod 744 install.sh && ./install.sh && cd snipeit; sed -i "s/'timezone' => '',/'timezone' => 'UTC',/" app/config/app.php; php artisan app:install
Seems if I use this the PHP stuff doesn't install. but if I go through it line by line and edit the files all seems to work. With the added steps of disabling SELINUX and adding
firewall-cmd --zone=public --add-port=http/tcp --permanent
firewall-cmd --reloadBut I have a working SnipIT to play with.

RE: Installing Snipe-IT on CentOS 7 and MariaDB
What's the latest one line command to get this working on a fresh install (minimum iso)?
