How is things for you ? i think i might also move in couple of months to Manitoba as well. What advice can you give me ? I will stay a year or so.
How is transportation there ?
First of all, you have to get an apartment that has nearby bus stop and has buses that pass by time to time. You don't want to stay outside for 30mins in a -40C temperature. Some bus stops has corridors, some has heaters on the bench but most of them doesn't have. I'm lucky that I can see the upcoming bus from my apartment so I wait inside the building and I only ride 1 bus going to work. I suggest to get a car immediately once you get here.
Another thing is, invest on clothing! That's very important. It will benefit you in the long run.
Thanks,
I dont think we can get any good clothing for winter as the ones they sell there. I looked online and it seems used cars are cheap in Canada, can you really get one for only 1000 CAD ?
It's possible, but in Manitoba every vehicle has to get a safety inspection when it changes owners. Some people will sell a used vehicle with inspection papers, but for $1000 they probably will not.
So I'd you buy a car for $1000, you then have to get it inspected before you can register it, after it is inspected you have get all the repairs the inspection requires. I think when we moved to Manitoba, we had to do $1500 in repairs on our vehicle.

I've been pretty satisfied with Azure DevOps so far, but calling it 'Azure' seems to be a marketing move and ends up being a misnomer.
Turns out I don't even need a VPS. I can periodically run my program with my free CI minutes on GitLab.com. It did come in handy for building and pushing the Docker images though, since my upload speed is 350 Kbps.
From October to May when the sun's gone away
We long for the summer's hot swelter
But with that warm spell comes a creature from hell
Who sends us all running for shelter
Last night I went out for a brief walkabout
To view starry heavens above me
When I was attacked from the front and the back
By a demon who took my blood from me
He buzzes and bites, he's a damn parasite
And he ain't no respecter of persons
To him you're just meat, though you're slathered in Deet
And he drives you to swattin' and cursin'
Would Pharaoh of old be so cocky and bold
When Moses demanded his freedom
If up from the Nile came the ultimate trial
The attack of the Northern Mosquito?
To be sung to the tune of The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, and don't forget the buzzing part of the song.

I love the fact that Azure can advertise giving customers DevOps for free.
Haha, MS clients can now say their company has adopted DevOps.
Reminds me of them commandeering Office and SQL.
Idk, for $10, and a little bit of time, my Meraki AP running OpenWRT was quite the bargain for a home AP

Without more experience or information it is difficult to draw an exact conclusion, but have you considered that he is on the autism spectrum? Some of the things that you're listing could be indicators of that. There are significant differences to how you will work with someone on the spectrum vs someone who just has control issues.
This sounds a lot like my co-worker, who I am pretty sure is on the spectrum. He is amazing technically, reading comprehension of technical documentation that is out of this world. But he can't think in terms of business needs and what is practical. He will also assume he knows what you're saying without listen so you really have to watch for cues that the didn't actually understand what you said. Also can be a lot of work to convince him he is wrong, you need to have definitive proof ready.
I've created a Salt execution module before, and it wasn't that hard, anyone with a bit of Python experience should be able to make one. I imagine a state module wouldn't be much harder.

Or he will have no memory of where he got information from, so he will explain something to you that was actually something you told him
In the past year I've have to quickly acquire some base knowledge in quite a few areas.
My strategy is first power through some Pluralsight videos. This gives me some familiarity with the theory behind the technology, and makes me more comfortable in planning something to do with it. I typically will not follow along with the videos.
I then do my own project with the technology. This typically makes me think more about what I am doing than if I just followed along with a video.
In reality, I would actuated prefer a book. I've used some books that effectively replace the two steps above. However, good books can be hard to find, and it feels like more of a waste when trying to use a poor book. And all the pluralsight series I have watched so far have been really solid. Also, it's easy to watch a video even if you aren't feeling motivated at the time.
I know this is more of an HR problem than an IT problem, but my boss is insisting.
Usually there's like 5 members posting nonsense so they can get points
And I doubt that the account being used actually has to be SA, but it would still have to use an account with full permissions on the database

I have Steam Keys available for Elder Scrolls Morrowind
and Dark Eye: Memoria if anybody wants them.
I've been playing a lot of Morrowind multiplayer recently (TES3MP)
Jabra Evolve 20 is a good basic headset. Microphone quality is great, but leaves a little to be desired conform-wise. Could be good for frist time.

This is on Windows. I haven't tried what happens on a different computer, but I'm wondering what could possibly be the difference happening here that's causing the server to respond differently?
