      Yep. I need that. A lot of that...
      But that price man. I still have a hard time understanding why cables are so expensive...

      @scottalanmiller That's right. You don't. The main software runs CrystalDB for a backend with a frontend that looks like it was designed for Windows 2000. That's just the start...

      There's not currently a specific question, but I'm a certified installer and run into Constant headaches with this software. Has anyone else ever dealt with it?

      Looks like this might do you: https://www.amazon.com/Tendak-Optical-Extractor-Converter-Splitter/dp/B014F4HYKK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1482859415&sr=8-2&keywords=hdmi+in+to+hdmi+spdif+out

      That's an interesting way to do things. I feel like a lot of things nowadays have a SPDIF out you could use?

      Awesome, I really want an Apple Watch. I gave the one that I had to my wife.

      Yeah, a smart watch is not a must have, but once you get used to one, it sucks going with out.

      Agreed. I had a GEAR watch a while back and I'm not sure where it went when I moved. I miss that thing.

      @wirestyle22 said in What Are You Doing Right Now:

      Story Time:

      This Christmas my mother-in-law (more or less) asked if I could look at her computer since we were coming over anyway. She hasn't had internet for 2 1/2 weeks. Her neighbors internet has also been out for the same amount of time. She told me she's had 3 Comcast techs come out and a supervisor. No one could get her internet up and running. They told her that it was her modem so she bought a new modem, which I'm sure costed her a good amount of money but I don't know the specific figure. Then they still couldn't get her internet working. They went through her crawlspaces, replaced cabling, etc. Nothing worked. I say sure, I'll take a look at it.

      CMD
      ipconfig /all

      Oh, she has a 169 IP address. Oh, Comcast DNS must be broken. I change her DNS settings to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

      It took 60 seconds to fix a problem that had taken her WEEKS to try to get fixed. Hours on the phone with Comast. 4 different appointments to try to get this fixed and no one could do it. Needless to say she now thinks I'm some kind of super genius and I have brownie points until the end of eternity.

      I guess that's a decent stance to be held in with a Mother-In-Law. lol

      CDS.... Corporate Data Systems?

      in london? Google gave me the same, but I was assuming since the name of the company is Shell (bank street, London) that Corporate Data Systems (a company) wasn't it.

      I was actually referring more to a generic "Corporate systems that support data"

      or, maybe you're right and CDS is a company supporting Shell?

      Uh..... hopefully it means more than that.

      With the way this entire conversation is leaning hard on "Generic as hell" I wouldn't be surprised. Maybe it's a language barrier or wording, but this has raised many, many red flags for me.

    • RE: Outdated Java and IE security settings for CUCM. When did this become okay?!

      @scottalanmiller said in Outdated Java and IE security settings for CUCM. When did this become okay?!:

      That seems pretty bad.

      For firefox, had to follow this: http://stokebrand.com/blog/2015/7/6/cannot-login-to-cisco-callmanager-after-firefox-update
      For Java, I had to drop the security from very high to just high, disable some "Block these apps" settings and add an exemption for the https://IP:port of the CUCM server.

      For those who don't want to follow the link for firefox, I had to set these in about:config
      security.ssl3.dhe_rsa_aes_128_sha=false
      security.ssl3.dhe_rsa_aes_256_sha=false
