      @scottalanmiller
      No package glusterfs-server available ???

      I tried other articles as well
      I can install = centos-release-gluster
      but not glusterfs-serve = not available

      Oh nvm they changed the url of their repo

      Connecting to download.gluster.org (download.gluster.org)|23.253.208.221|:443... connected.
      HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 404 Not Found

      This worked for me:

      yum search centos-release-gluster #check LTS version number (centos-release-gluster310)
      yum -y install centos-release-gluster310 -y
      sed -i -e "s/enabled=1/enabled=0/g" /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Gluster-3.10.repo
      yum --enablerepo=centos-gluster310,epel -y install glusterfs-server
      systemctl start glusterd
      systemctl enable glusterd

    • RE: ONLYOFFICE NextCloud Integration Documentation failure.

      @scottalanmiller

      I actually use it in production it just more mature version of OpenOffice Collabora thing, cause man only 1 look at there docker container and you know how much mess they are in:
      https://hub.docker.com/r/collabora/code/tags/
      Clearly someone does not understand docker and containers.

      However Only Office have free + paid versions and it seems the free version is limited or recommended up to 25 user, I dont know what is the gimmick but
      It does not support many languages but when you have many people worshiping EXCEL and love working on it on NAS, with all the shit of file locking, this comes as pretty neat option, especially since it supports fast mode and strict mode editing ( in strict when you edit a cell it wont allow other users to edit it as well untill 1st user saves then notification will go to 2nd user to reload the page ) it is alot more polished than Collabora.

      Also inside the suite like word/spreadsheet you can chat with users, and importing of MS files are much smoother IMO

    • Help me with this Server Purchase (beginner in server hardware) regarding RAID ?

      Hi,

      Thanks for your support, secondly check this link.

      http://www.dell.com/us/business/p/poweredge-r230/pd?oc=pe_r230_1346_a&model_id=poweredge-r230

      Notice under Tech Specs it states:

      RAID Controllers
      S130, H330, H730, H830

      What does this mean, are all those are bundled with the server ? seems very from the truth.

      Or it does only support those types of RAID adapters, and does the server comes with only of the RAID adapters ?

    • Cisco Aironet 1830 Issue with HTTPS Interface

      Hi,

      We have this Cisco Aironet 1830 Wireless Controller and it is PoE and it controllers other WiFi children.

      Since we got them they ran fine and I was able to access the web interface from it is IP.

      Now for whatever reason I no longer can access the Web HTTPS interface, however I can ping it and SSH to the device successfully using the same IP

      When I go home will work on this after working hours, will try to reboot it from SSH, but any idea why I no longer see the web interface, and is there anything i can type at the SSH interface that can toggle it back on ?

      Sorry I familiar with generic Wireless AP like TP-Link And ASUS, but not Cisco

    • What will happens if 2nd DHCP server appears on network that already is served by DHCP from a router ?

      Theoretically speaking big company, lots of floors, no good moderation.

      And somebody wants to sabotage or harm the network or maybe learn about DHCP [Therotically speaking] and he can have access to the network using ethernet cable cause the whole building have accessible RJ45 wall plugs, and he made DHCP server using Windows Server ISO for example and, what will happen to the clients ...

      Clients are Windows machines that get IPv4 + DNS automatically.

      @scottalanmiller @wrx7m

      IF they are not so tech users, dont let them use the desktop client. Just let them use the web based app.

      The desktop client maybe faster, but I have NextCloud in Prod with Onlyoffice integration and the desktop app keeps asking them question that they fail to understand especially when a folder is cleared.

      Also cause it tries to keep copy offline on end user machine it can create headache for users working on same files, since you said few clients just let them work directly using the web.

      I reckon the best way from here is to check the internet speed at the office in China, and the file sizes of things that will get uploaded.

      If they are big files and slow internet then you should host it onsite the nextcloud, but I dont know if China will allow other companies from accessing the site, maybe it will work if the companies are within china ? not sure though...

      If small files sizes then yh host it in the cloud.

      Actually it happens when someone empties a folder (even if he emptied it for 1 moment then added more files later), the sync stops on other users and next cloud pop up asks them something like :

      We have detected that someone cleared the folder do you want to clear it as well or keep files.

      the thing is the Sync actually stops on other users till this is answered, the good thing to do then is to copy all the already files in the sync folder to the desktop for example then choose clear to get new files, so you have the option to compare stuff. I think I solved this by creating Dummy file so the folder never gets emptied but its up for the users to respect and understand those stuff, otherwise just default them to the web nextcloud app, where users can drag and drop files after finishing working on them.

      Interesting. How often are people emptying folders? I've not seen this happen, but not sure we've ever done that, either.

      Your users are smart unlike mine, I have to deal with doctors... people assume they are smart. but trust me they dont want to learn anything new

    • RE: Where to start?

      Start with old Desktop with Virtualization extension, something that you can install OS and dont have to remove cause of free space or you need it for something else.

      Cause learning Linux or Centos or anything else needs environment, and virtualbox can work but it wont allow you play with KVM, and thats for me the big part of the fun.

      Also you need to keep learning that means its is process some day you will leave it 4-5 days dormat cause your stuck in an issue the other day bulb lights up mainly due to reading this site and you get back on it.

      @FATeknollogee

      I think your best bet is KVM as host + Virt IO drivers with RDP or virt viewer to connect to the machine.

      Virt-Viewer for me amazing and full featured but reliability wise it was hit and miss, I dont think virt-viewer receives much love and attention as much as virt-manager.

    • RE: HTML5 management interface for KVM

      @FATeknollogee

      Well you can review it and install it and check it out and then publish your thoughts here. Based on my experience it is very simple and you cant choose many options from the web interface last time i checked it.

      I need to configure my VM with virtIO driver and the web interface defaults to something else I forgot what it was.

      Also it relies on WoK which is framework, so its not really native solution... and your better of testing it from docker image which is much more quicker.

      Cause KVM have so many front-ends, just use RHEL supported ones = Ovirt or VirtManager.

      And dont expect fancy things with opensource and free stuff,

    • RE: Should I build it myself (iSCSI Storage) or use AS5008T ?

      @KOOLER

      To be honest you sound right, cause I have another device and its running Linux custom OS and provides SMB 3.0/2.0 support via SAMBA and it does function but it has its weird moments so I have to rely on custom script for users on Windows 7 and upward to mount password protected network shares, which does not work if the users did it via the GUI of map network drive, regardless what setting I play with from the user side or the NAS side.

      Hmm it seems it is always better to follow the open approach and have the benefit of re-purposing or run any other Operating System.
