Does anyone have experience purchasing off-brand or "compatible" toner instead of the name brand stuff? My Brother HL-3170 CDW color laserjet is complaining about being low on toner, so I'm looking at prices, and I can save about $100 if I get an off-brand. There are a couple of choices, and they seem to get enough of a range of reviews, that the positive ones could easily be from the seller, so I'm hesitant to buy.

@ajstringham I dunno, since buying a new printer is cheaper than buying the full set of genuine Brother toner, I think it might be worth it to try the generic toner.

As for how to get the best airfare, you're a bit early for booking for next July. There's a great article on farecompare.com about how far ahead of time to buy airfare to get the best rate, and what days of the week to search. Clear your cache and then try searching again on a Tuesday afternoon, and you will notice the prices change. Consider setting up an airfare watch on farecompare.com to be notified when prices drop. So, you have a good amount of time there to see some of the surrounding area. The USA is quite large, so you will want to check google maps for the drive times to other places to which you may be interested in road tripping. Something I would definitely suggest, is making time to visit Niagara Falls. It's about 1.5 hours from Rochester and most definitely worth your limited time and the drive. If you are able to get a visa for Canada, that's a bonus, but if not, there are spectacular views of the Horseshoe Falls from the American side. The Finger Lakes wine region is scenic and scattered with small wineries that offer tastings, many times free. Winery hopping is a great way to spend an afternoon. It's possible we may have an informal wine tour after MangoCon2017 too. There are many places within reach, suggestions all depend on your interests, as well as how much time you're willing to spend traveling.

Funny thing is, in Italy, he would have been correct when he stuck his foot in there, lol.

I installed the latest iOS update on my phone, and about a week later, it started not recognizing any wall chargers, and turning off before it was fully discharged. I plugged it into my computer and it charged, so I thought it was just being quirky. I erased it and restored it and there was no change, so I lived with it being annoying, but then last night, I got an error when I plugged it into my laptop that the phone was malfunctioning and the computer couldn't recognize it, and the phone wouldn't charge. Yay. We plugged it into the PS3, and it charged about halfway, then wouldn't charge anymore. At this point, I was ready to dropkick the damn thing, but before I did something rash, Scott found a thread on the Apple support forum where people were talking about this problem, and a few people said that turning off the phone, then plugging it in, then turning it off again resulted in the phone charging. So I tried it, and when I woke up this morning, the phone was charged. Hopefully the issue is resolved.
