We have been buying the CAD edition to eliminate using Acrobat Standard. If you just want to read the drawings and maybe print them, you can use the free Autodesk DWG TrueView app.

I run Veeam here and use to backup SharePoint and Exchange. Ask me what you want.

Or you can just install the free Version of VeeamOne and run the builtin reports. Gift cards are nice though.

DNS is going to be part of the DC anyway. File Server won't be heavily reliant on more RAM or processor cores, but IOPS and Bandwidth, but for a small server, no big deal. The RAM/CPU should be adjusted upwards based on the requirements of the A/V and Backup applications. Why not just leave it a DC and build another VM for the other stuff?

I can't tell you how many stupid articles I read on InfoWorld. I've since stopped. While I understand where this guy is coming from, this article is just plain stupid. Comments like:

"My browser's save-password feature helped me log in until the next password change"- You're an idiot. All someone needs to do is access your local PC and boom, Daddy has a new [insert want here].

"In my former bank's case, it uses second-factor authentication (texts, emails, or calls) when you change your password or use a new device to access your account."- Really, is that so difficult.

Yes it does. 5 and up. Currently at 7. They have two utilities: U-Air (good for 2003/2007) and the new one Veeam Explorer for Exchange. I've tested the first and seen the second. Very cool and very easy. In fact, the granular recovery of Veeam was the reason I chose Veeam over other software titles.

Veeam supports it a few ways. For a disaster, you can perform what they call InstantVM Recovery. Basically the server will spin up on the backup device (say a NAS) and then you can move it to the target host depending on what you are using. Remember this also supports replication, so you can do an instant failover to the replica. Veeam kicks ass.

Co-worker just showed me his pics of their maple syrup canning process they did over the weekend. He mentioned about the cold too and was surprised that you needed that.

Do I assume correctly that you're running Veeam as a guest on a VM host? How much resources do you dedicate to the Veeam instance?
It can be on a VM guest or on a physical server. Resources given, like everything, depends. I have it on a virtual file server and run it with 2 cores and 4GB.

I thought to apply User policies to Computer and vise versa, you needed to enable loopback policy. I don't mix mine, but I've seen that term mentioned about.

I have done both, but to be honest, I'm a bit lazy. While BTI is cheaper, the don't offer free return shipping for recycling like APC does. You can pay for the shipping to where BTI will recycle them, but that will reduce the savings or you can run them to a recycler. For me, I'll just get the APC and recycle from there.
