You can use Group Policies to disable users from logging into Chrome. I've pushed it out in the past and it works very well. There are a ton of settings you can use to lock down Chrome as well.

So in my case there was lighttpd installed for some reason and it was attempting to bind to the same port which makes sense. I guess just by chance I had never run into this before. Weird

Have you checked your ssh logs and history to see if someone has logged in and was serving something odd?

Should get you an idea of what is running on that port.

I tried to take a snapshot of my Plex server today and it timed out and was unresponsive. A hard reset was necessary. when I powered it back on I noticed that my httpd service wasn't running.

      apache1.png

As you can see the apachectl configtest came back OK, so the syntax is correct. I've never run into this error before.

I attempted to look this up and a lot of it points to virtual hosts which I'm not using.

There is something already bound to port 80. That's why it isn't starting back up.

He's the wild Canadian that just appears sometimes.

Actually had Cisco themselves get confused about this today! Customer called Cisco and Cisco couldn't get QoS to work and instead suggested setting up VLANs as if they had never heard about networking before today. Like totally clueless "textbook myth" stuff.

I mean... it is Cisco... did you expect them to be competent?

Some younger girls in my family were talking about the different kinds of girls that exist. VSCO girls, E-girls, etc. I did not know what a VSCO girl was until last night. What useful piece of information was pushed out of my brain to make room for this.

I don't know what either of those are?

Why not just use Discord? Most of the Slack clones really don't do voice chat channels like Discord does.

Just curious what is out there

Ah got it. It's not a project just a question. Sorry. Rocket.Chat does Jitsi Meet. Which is actually really nice, you can also host an instance on your own and tie them together. It's not as easy as Discord's voice channels though.

I did it last fall, and found I could not secure the jitsi instance in any reasonable fashion.

I don't doubt that. I didn't look closely but Jistsi runs without encryption. Or do you mean only letting people from your server join it?

Jitsi runs with SSL just fine. Yes I meant control of room creation, etc.

      Got it.

      Examples...

"I snagged some pizza as it was aclose to me."

"It'll be easier to eat pizza from aclose."

I am no expert when it comes to using the word aclose , but I would assume the first use is wrong and second use is right. I would never see anyone use afar in the way you did in the first sentence. The second sentence certainly.

Yep, from a "This should be like afar" train of thought the first one is incorrect. Especially since "close" would just work in that sentence.

"I snagged some pizza as it was close to me."

My take on all the SW stuff (as a persona non grata) is that I could just show up in Austin during the festivities and have a blast without a conference ticket. I know most of the cool kids, why spend 200 bucks to get vendor assaulted?

I was actually thinking about this. I usually got more value from the after events then I did from the conference.

Plus a few days in Austin is always fun.

I'm looking for a backup product for Microsoft Hyper-V VM's. (In this case running Windows VM's).

I need a central point of management, the ability to back up to local storage as well as a NAS, optional cloud storage would be nice.

No on prem 'appliance' for the backup wanted, just a software solution.

I've been using Altaro but found out today that you can't even do a file level restore unless you have a Server OS

The built-in Windows Server Backup with Windows Admin Center seems to fit these requirements.

I can't get WAC to connect to a single server reliable, let alone multiple servers on different domains across the Internet. Wouldn't this require a VPN connecting every company to each other? Seems like an incredible risk and crazy cumbersome. How else does WAC see the machines?

If you read, you'd see I was responding to the original post, which I didn't notice any mention of cross site, cross client, cross internet, etc.

The entire thread is about an MSP "multi site / multi tenant" approach. That's the context of the whole thing.

Heh, what do ya know. It is!

WAC would be great if there was some WAC API for centralizing WAC management.

If the servers could be configure to reach out so there would be no need to open ports... that would be cool.
