Without moving too far away from op, how about Microsoft make paint open source and give it to the people to look after and manage.

Budgie Environment looks nice, might have to try that, the notification area looks very well done, just seen some images of that, not seen that one before.

RE: Microsoft putting MSPaint out to pasture
@scottalanmiller Do you use these on your main machines Scott? I have been a fan of gnome before ubuntu changed to unity, But gnome has changed so much since then, I'm aware ubuntu is going back to gnome, but I'm not sure If I like the new gnome. I know I want a Debian based distro, so it's just finding a gui I like.

RE: Microsoft putting MSPaint out to pasture
I may seem petty, I normally use photoshop anyway, but my main point is I don't want it removed, I've had it on my machine since windows 3.0
@scottalanmiller - I've tried many, I'm not sure which distro to go with though, I have downloaded deepin to try, as You showed some nice pics in your thread the other day, haven't got round to trying it in a VM yet though.

RE: Microsoft putting MSPaint out to pasture
Will be removed automatically with the Next update I should imagine , I use Linux for some servers, but it won't be long before my full personal desktop will move over, getting the hump with these forced updates and features.
If I have a program installed, I would like it to stay and not be removed automatically just because Microsoft want to, I'm sure we will all be on monthly subscriptions for our O.S soon as well.

RE: Bitcoin
@tim_g - I partly disagree, It will get used for illegal transactions (just like cash does) but online transactions, like hosting, could be deemed a bit safer (like paypal) you will not have to disclose your bank cards, just your wallet address. I have noticed that many online stores are starting to accept Bitcoins.

RE: Bitcoin
Government like banning something they cannot control, I bet the banks and governments are getting very concerned about Cryptocurrency.
It's similar to the internet at the minute, British government are already trying to look at ways of controlling it, our government has already made ISP's retain all internet history for up to a year for all uk residents for our main Providerers, all in the name of trying to say it will make us safer against terrorism, it's a load of shit.. its all about control.
We even have to buy a TV licence in the uk to watch live tv, that's sepperate fee from the tv providers like sky and virgin (cable), if you don't pay it you can be threatened with a hefty fine or prison.
My moral of my rant, if it's annoying the government, that does please me slightly...

RE: China to block VPNs by February 2018
The Chinese government are already using deep packet inspection to identify VPN protocols being used, they would also block IP addresses to known and established VPN providers.

@dashrender - going backwards rather then forward.

RE: China to block VPNs by February 2018
@scottalanmiller Do you think this will not go ahead then? or will it be a case they will not block but make it illegal to use?

China to block VPNs by February 2018
Scary times when you have a country going down this road. This is getting terrible when a country takes freedoms away for political gain.

RE: 3 Cups a Day may help you live longer
