@JaredBusch
Please don't stumble thru any more of my posts, I know we have different styles, and I really am not asking anyone to read anything they don't understand. If you find my writing confusing because of my style then you have the option to quit reading at any time. I don't expect critics of my posts, I just vented. Not to offend anyone - If I find a post hard to read, I stop reading, and do not reply if I am not sure where this is going no need to let the writer know of my disappointment in their style of communication. Yes, I am a computer geek not an English major, If I was you could read my junk easier. Thanks for Reading anyways - I am sorry I wasted 5? minutes of your life.
Thanks Chris K.

@scottalanmiller
What makes you so good? How do you do it? You can diffuse situations, reply to everything and have all the answers (I mean that in a good way, not cynical). I still say as I stated in the past, You are more than one person. You have to be, no one person is that good..... LOL. If you are one person my hat is off to you, however if you are a team,,, Still my hat is off to you! Thanks for your 'advice' especially the freebee's I did not have to read if I became offended (grammer Nazi). You know, Mgmt needs work and so do I, however I am willing to acknowledge that fact, Others not so receptive.
Thanks, Chris K. -
RE: Windows 7 Hope this is Right Place
Yes, you are right this is the wrong place to Fu** up your post. Never should have written at the end of the day, in a hurry.
I assure you wont happen again, spiiel check should help that. Not enough info, I know I work in IT, Isnt the story long enough, Missed quite a few stumbling blocks, but if I took on 7 educationally, hmm probably couple of years back. Point was, Yes MGMT was irresponsible, I should have pushed harder, but as I said, Maybe I pushed too hard. Work for dolts, get dolty systems. Problem being, I took us from 98 to XP as a consultant to this org. They said "that was the smoothest transition we ever had..." Expected the same this time, hmmmm. Still not enough info, so I leave you here hanging.
Thanks and so long. -
Windows 7 Hope this is Right Place
I have a problem, we have moved to Windows 7. When Vista came I tested and updated software to run in case we went this route. I researched differences between Vista and Windows XP positing concerns with in house applications we use and Vista's (NON XP) setup. Took a couple of months, I had to learn to run Vista, Read Vista, eat Vista, you know, the learning curve - it is always there. Fine, did not go with Vista - sure and I know quite a bit about Vista, and Run it at home. Please reserve comments to yourselves (about my home use), unless you have the background in Vista that I have obtained. Windows 7 came out. Curious, went thru Windows 7 run 7 read 7 eat 7 etc. Well quite a few of my notes from Vista translated over to Windows 7 - Example - tasks that run and clean desktop icons Sunday's at 1 am. Win 7 yes, Vista yes. Then came 32 vs 64 bit, at first everything was XP to Vista upgrade, or XP to Windows 7 upgrade, most of these Items were 32 bit, not much to change along these lines. But we want 64 bit Windows 7. Wow, what's the difference? Well with WoW there is a translator and if you don't need any hardware to communicate with the wow 32 bit translation going on, sure 32 bit programs work fine. But what about the 32 bit usb dongle? Need 64 bit driver, Manu says not gonnna do it. Run 32 bit Win 7. Sure, keep 64 and 32 bit drivers laying around, and when you come to a workstation remember to load the right drivers.... Next, deadline approaching, a fast push. Submit report on software, hardware, server applications, everything I know that will still have "Problems" (may not be in your face problems, but the best one's never are) and pretty much get the ignore. HEH. The first image out was a disaster, our flagship program installed but would not take the service release it needed to run in 7 - 64. HUH? I set this up, I know this release works and the service release works also, have installed on many test systems. My Peers, and My 'Boss' OH, -- it was the Client Access, IBM AS400. HUH this stuff is bullet proof, and so I downloaded another service release in case our copy had been corrupted. Nope, Still wont install. Had 8 pc's out there before I finally was able to find a software package that would not do its thingy (in 7 - 64) and the problem was repeatable - (dual monitors--no way also). They asked me to create an image and install the software "Sure". I gave them a functioning W7, 64, with Client Access V6R1M0 W/ SI42423 Win 7 64 bit approved, while loading the new 7 AV and all updates, and Company software etc. etc. Printers, Scanners, drivers 64bit in a library, and ready to go. They took my image and left - next thing I know, new pc's start showing up, now with new problems. Sure Client Access runs but can't connect thru active directory, scanners locking up trying to inventory pc's - all manner of items. Took this new info to my "Boss"? He mentioned to me -- not exact quote but close-- Everything you do is not perfect, and essentially Keep your nose out of it?????? was his reply. Wow, I will be cleaning up this mess in the next coming weeks-years, unless I am lucky enough to find a janitorial job. I have worked here 10+ years, and the rep I had as an outside tech, who was popular, has now faded, and most of my old clients are retired (or worse). I am stuck knowing the strange issues (that have already) and will pop up will be my new job here for maybe years to come. I know it's Job security right? Well come sit in my chair and feel what job security feels like. Knowing I will be fixing broken items while they still will be broken is kinda pointless if you ask me, I know you did not. Treating Windows 7 + Windows 7 security like it is XP is deplorable. I am now an outcast, and not many in my department are talking to me, except, had to reboot this server this AM, They came to me and said ---can't imagine what's going on with that? HUH? actually I felt HA HA HA HA. Now when asked - Can you fix this (With duct tape or the keyboard?) Yes I can fix what is broken but it will still be broken. It is the OS that is the problem, the main brain for all other items on the pc, sure I can fix this problem, but the main problem will remain. I have already had users ask me IF I could rebuild their PC's Correctly. Sure, but convince MGMT, or better yet convince them there is even a problem. Yes I feel sorry for myself, sure I don't know how my big mouth got me into so much trouble? So goes IT.

RE: Kiting someone along after an interview
Once, A person said "at my job they are lazy, cruel, impatient. What should I do?". 1 Learn to be lazy, cruel, impatient - essentially 'learn' to fit in, or 2 find a job with people who have the quality's you would expect at a place of employment and learn from them. Never heard what happened, but hoped it was 2. Consider this learning experiment, people like to be important and throw their weight around. Give you hope, but are not really the end decision maker (obviously) and blindly go around affecting people in ways they cant imagine. Now, if you worked for this person and they continued in this way, how else do you think they could have made your life miserable. Consider how you felt, emotional rollercoaster, imagine how they felt - sure sounds like they were oblivious to this fact. With the little you have said they made you feel important 'key word they' and then took it away from you. If you were employed by them you may have to endure this rollercoaster while on their payroll. I wish I could say something that would make you feel better, but as you know I cant, but I could offer you a job and remove the offer. How would you feel then, and do you think I should have that kind of control over your feeling's. I don't. Please don't take this as being callous but remember, when it comes to other people's promises - all you have is hot air.

RE: Kiting someone along after an interview
Maybe, they told another they had a 'solid' for this position in order to make a move on the target. Car sales, you look at something, always there is another buyer interested in this vehicle (maybe, maybe not) but knowing you are competing with another for the vehicle can entice you to buy. Job's work in this way also, I have been told I was 1 of 3 people selected to interview. Wow, Odds are stacked in my favor-- No one I know in this town can compete, I am a shoe in. OOPS my bad, letter ("picked someone more qualified"), what???? Give me his name, I need to have his phone number so when I am stymied, I can add him to my support group and ask him questions. (Actually) I answer Way more questions than I ask. Still, More qualified, give me a break. Yea, I hear you and it does not make any sense, maybe they don't mind training someone - and paying quite a bit less? I also am at a loss, but Once many moons ago in another life I worked in a parts department of a large dealership. I saw firsthand the dirty tricks salesmen (not all) used to urge customers to buy.... Kind reminds me of the hiring process for IT. Quick take it for less, there is anther serious candidate we are looking at. Bang, shot thru the heart.

RE: The conundrum of being a "Jack of all trades" on the Job hunt.
Yea, I've worked in IT for 20+ years. Started with outside tech, moved to network analyst, to consultant, to I.S. Manager, and now work for a company that considers me a flunky. I do everything. From outside tech, there was HP printer support, Warranty services - IBM, Packard Bell ?remember them?, HP, Compaq, 3Com, Epson, Oki Data (printers and fax) numerous types of Clones, worked on 486 - 66 to pentium 233 all manners of software, OS and Installed ie. corel 5.1 Dos 5.0 - 6.22 win 311,95 nt 3.51 & 4.0 Server Unix. (ages me huh?). Since then I have had almost all role's in IT you can imagine. I found out how to wire 568 a,b, pull cable, wire buildings, terminate in patch panels, followed fiber from sanding ends with a microscope to splicing with gel media. Row's of servers, no problem, apple products no problem, AS400, no problem, desktops, no problem, printers faxes scanners etc. no problem. IP routing and vlans no problem. On and on... SOO which skill should I highlight on my resume? The one I'm applying for of course. Still have a hard time trying to find work when there are so many specialists out there???? If you work in IT and have not picked up other skills on your way, are you working with blinders on? Has your employer never asked for a project out of your skill set? Even in large company's when they find you can place a maintenance kit into HP lasers, or replace a scanner, boing you save them $200-300 in not calling in a Laser printer tech. Once this happens your job also absorbs the printer tech position by default (usually you do this in a pinch, you never want to advertise printer skill, after all it is just a dumb peripheral -- who know's why they attach it to pc's?). Soon your description was Network admin, or analyst, or tech, but now you are also the in house printer tech does that get added - I think not. Jack of all trades, by jobs. Know what I do, Yes. Skimp in training, no - if I am not sure I find out, do not pretend I am sure. Where does this leave me?? My education has been - Myself, how many of you rely on absorption/osmosis to do your job - you can't, you need continuing education. Internet, trade publications, tech manuals, software guides, dare say magazine's. (oh also clean malware, not in 'my' job description).
If an employer passes on me, oh well, really - their loss? Maybe (if my ego was larger, but it gets trampled in my day to day so I don't usually worry). Change, in IT it is a way of life, a constant, interesting - if it did not keep my attention I would quit - ask my wife. Fair, was it fair how hard it was for any of you to break into this field, how did you 'WOW' your first employer into giving you the chance to prove yourself on their equipment/software? Was it easy, if so leave me a post - I get asked all the time. I don't care who you are, what your title is, you have had to be a Jack Of All Trades at some point, unless you have been here 6 Months. Isn't that true? -
RE: If you are new drop in say hello and introduce yourself please!
Hello, my name is Chris ≠ Kris. Work Hard talk alot, cant spell, use sentence fragments, use silly analogy's, and more comma's than you can shake a stick at, although I like to split it up with the occasional - for emphasis. Can write a book about nothing and get my point across - my high point is verbal communications. My posts tend to be long and I don't break for paragraphs. If you think that's bad you should see my tech documents with pictures. mmmm pictures. Oh, my email's - don't get me started on those.

RE: TED Talk: Pamela Meyer: How To Spot A Liar
@Bill-Kindle
Thanks for Sharing this, I have a special person in my life, at work. I have circular referenced him, asked the relevant question, conversed, and asked rephrased relevant question. Guess what - 2nd time Truth.... He is easy to spot, when it concerns a lie, he crosses his arm's - I always wondered if he knew how that made him look - like he is protecting himself. From what? When he is not, he tends to sit open looks relaxed and even may smile. I find body laguage to be a great indication of a person's mental state and I am not sure why they don't see it also? I really enjoy Ted Talk's (Truth) and thanks for sharing this one (Truth). I am 8 feet tall (lie). HE HE. -

Don't concern yourself with who or how it happened, just fix it.
