@jaredbusch Removing the binding did the trick. It's so nice to be able to do a CTRL-ALT-END without shutting my machine down!

Blocking of sites based on geographical location
Not sure if this goes in IT Discussion or Water Closet because it's more of a RANT than an IT Problem.
I have ranted previously on this, but still finding it as common behavior.
Will someone PLEASE tell IT security departments that geoblocking is insanely stupid?
You have to believe that people on vacation in Central America (or living abroad there) is a huge thread, and/or that hackers don't know how to use VPN or otherwise spoof their IP addresses.

RE: Fedora 28 Server - Linux 101 - How do you partition your drives
I found this one but I have been told that XFS is a better way to go so I wasn't sure how good the video was.

@travisdh1 Can you dumb that down for me?
I'm looking for more step by step or a walk through video if possible. Maybe Linux 098 vs. 101...
Try this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olPWqd3gVY8 Around 2:05 is where you want to look for creating a custom partition layout.
In that video would I just make the / partition larger since I have a larger drive and keep the others the same? Isn't XFS preferred now?
XFS is my preference, yes. The root partition at 25GB is enough assuming you're only using KVM with a server base. The one big change you want to be aware of is assigning another LVM partition the rest of the drive space to the /var mount point. It's much easier to set that up at install time rather than change it later.
So in @FATeknollogee example would I just change /Data to /var ?

You could do something similar to this & use /data for storing vm's
I used this example just changing /data to /var instead and adding /home as a 2 GiB as well. I'm not sure that was necessary however.

That's the trick, thanks!

Microsoft XPS Document Writer v4 Missing from Win 10
I have a Windows 10 machine that uses the XPS driver to print from Quickbooks. I can re-install the XPS printer but when I get to the part for the driver and click on Microsoft XPS Document Writer v4 isn't one of the choices. There are other choices but it looks like the v4 is the default.

Default printer Webex on Remote Desktop Session
I have a client who uses RDS on Windows Server 2016 STD.
Their printers for their RD sessions keep defaulting to a Webex printer.
On the remote desktop session I have printers and clipboard unchecked.
I have removed the Webex application from the server and I don't see Webex as a printer even available on the server.

Router / AP / Switch for business
I know that you need to have a business class router (access point, switch, etc.) for a business, but having problems articulating why.
I have a client who has an NETGEAR Nighthawk R7000 and I am trying to recommend going to Ubiquity gear.
What are some good talking points that I can use to educate them as far as WHY business class is a must?

RE: Desktop photo for all PC's in the domain
Yes I did do a gpupdate /force and a logout / logon, also tried a reboot. No joy.
@Kelly Method 1 - what GPO copy do I need to setup for it please?

RE: Public IP for Server remote management
@eddiejennings said in Public IP for Server remote management:
I suppose a solution to this could be setup a VM as a jump box, put it behind reverse proxy and NAT, and lock it down as much as you can (SSH keys, etc.). From that jump box, access your servers. I do something similar with my colo lab server, except I just have Zero Tier on said VM, and connect to it via SSH over Zero Tier.
The above won't solve the problem of somehow having out-of-band management capability / console access, which you could have with IPMI.
Yes plenty of ways to do this the 'right way' but the I.T. company I was talking to doesn't get the risk of doing it the wrong way.
I was just running it by folks here to see if I was way off base by thinking they are nuts for making it public without any extra security.

Convert .ost to .pst
I need to convert an offline 2016 .ost to .pst. I see a lot of "free" tools out there but some end up being paid and others look a bit adware like.
Anyone have a tool that is free that they like?

Computers not syncing with Domain Controller. Is my GPO blocking it?
Computers in a domain are not syncing time with the Domain Controller (Hyper-V). They are all set to the local CMOS clock.
I had to restrict the ability for local users to change time by themselves. Is the GP that I created preventing the computers from syncing to the domain?

RE: Ubiquity USG 3 Port with Centurylink Tecnicolor C-2100t
@travisdh1 said in Ubiquity USG 3 Port with Centurylink Tecnicolor C-2100t:
@ccwtech What is the reason for a VLAN between the modem and firewall/router? That's the most likely culprit with the internet connection. Also, absolutely no reason for a VLAN when only 2 devices are connected to said network.
I recognize that interface. Do you have any option for none or VLAN 0 in the VLAN ID Setting?
Forget the VPN for now and just get internet connection working.
The C2100T will not let you select untagged. You can select it and hit save but it goes back to 201. The Centurylink L IV tech said that the reason that untagged is locked out is that with that modem no traffic will pass if it's not VLAN tagged. I have run across this before with other Centurylink modems and different routers behind them.
So no other option there. Internet is working (with DHCP on the USG and the USG in DMZ mode, just trying to work on VPN.)

RE: Getting DHCP BAD_ADDRESS on Windows DHCP
So what we are pretty sure we have narrowed it down to is a WiFi device that reports the temperature of the refrigerator to an online portal that sends out notifications when there is an out of range event.
There is an inside the fridge sensor and that sends the information to a receiver outside the fridge. The receiver part is what has the WiFi built in. I think the inside sensor to outside receiver communicate using 900 Mhz.
Who would have thought to check the refrigerator?

Yes, chatting with @scottalanmiller he found that all Server Windows 2016's have EFS on by default. I have just never seen a pop-up telling me to back up the key before.

Gotcha, this happens with Windows 10 too.
Our shop has seen some Windows 10 Laptops that seem to have Bitlocker turned on by default. Which is a little scary if you don't know it's on and to backup your key.
