    • RE: Dell PERC Question (Server Down)

Well, over the weekend I got all the important data off this array, and this morning I TRASHED IT!

I unplugged all the drives, then re-plugged in all DELL-only drives.

The arrays built, initialized, and thus far seem fine.

I guess there is no way to test except actually putting the data back on there, so that will be the next step.

      Oh, and prayer. 🙂

Just had someone come over to my desk and mention the porn filter isnt working. So, naturally, I googled for boobs.

While she was at my desk.

      Porn filter isn't working.

Well at least the judge won't have any sort of proof for the impending court case.

I was playing a little bit with LOGG.LY today and I think I fried my brain.

I'm trying to get my logs off my XS USB boot device see it doesn't get its brain fried.

I'll be watching this ELK discussion to see how everyone does.

    • RE: BRRABill's Field Report With XenServer

So I figured out what the issue is.

There is a hotfix that is installed on one of my two servers and not the other.

On Server1, i went hotfix by hotfix, installing them all. On Server 2, I started with SP1, and then went to the oldest and worked backwards.

This leave htofixes installed on one that have been since depreciated.

      At least that my hypothesis.

For now. Once support for 6 is gone, what's XS going to do?

The new version of XS (Dundee) uses 7.

For a man to sit down with a good bottle of scotch? Well, yeah, if you do it at work or before driving 😛

We drink here at work. All depends on the circumstance.

I would have done well in the Mad Men era.

I've almost never worked somewhere that didn't drink at work. Either unofficially or officially, but mostly it is officially. Most places I've worked serve at the office.

When I saw you mentioned me, i was like "oh no, he is going to say that is highly unprofessional and should be stopped"

Came in this a.m. to discover that we had not been able to send external emails since Friday afternoon... when we switched our ISP connections. Broke the Exchange send connector (I'm currently waiting on the correct AT&T address to use). And since we have customers in the office for training all week, the bosses are busy.

No one realized that since Friday?

Well, I could use Splunk as well.

I admittedly was looking for something "easy" ... plug and play, so to speak.

But I guess I find myself at the intersection of ease and cost.

    • RE: XenServer 7 has launched!

      @olivier

      When you say

"The condition needed to do that is to have your local SR (created during the install of previous XS version) to be empty. This way, the XenServer 7 install could use this space for re-partinioning the whole drive in a proper way."

Is that also true if the local SR is not on the boot device?

For example how many of us have XS booting off USB but the local SR on a separate array?

Now erasing my iPhone 6 and restoring from backup, hoping this fixes the lag.

if not, next step ... start from scratch.

The "erase all settings" and "restore from iCloud" seems to have done the trick.
