Ha ya, we were roommates all through college.
Now it's a REALLY small world.
I was tempted to get a job at the Vault, because it's close enough to me I could walk/bike home.
But the thought of being around all that beer and not being able to drink it made me decide not to!

- Not your problem
I know but I am the rare IT person who helps friends, family, and co-workers.
I know I am in the minority.
I know how you feel about sales people, but I think you can trust the right sales people, always with a modicum of research yourself.
Trust but verify.

Why? Do they offer to do free labor on your car when it needs maintenance?
People understand mechanics don't work for free, but for some reason they think IT people should
I have friends that are mechanics that work on my car for free. I give them free IT stuff.
I just know a lot of people who help each other out.
I'm a member of a "Pay It Forward" group, too.

Oh okay. that's not a problem with the hot swapping, it's a problem with the RAID level and the age or fragility of the drives. Hot swapping was still the right thing to do there, it just wasn't enough to have saved you.
Yeah I knew what to do, certainly.

@BRRABill Another good way to do it is with VM's and something like virtualbox.
Or VDI on Amazon!
Maybe they can use the 433 million we are all getting to just buy a new computer.
I can replace the motherboard. I just figured there was a site I didn't know about that everyone was buying from, that I would have found out about AFTER I already bought a part at a worse place.
I've learned here...ask before buying.

Walked into the bathroom to take a leak and there's a guy in each toilet stall. They're giggling, farting and showing each other "dank memes" on their phones under the partition that separates them. Turned around, walked out to the next bathroom. Didn't want to interrupt a budding bro-mance.
That is literally the craziest thing I think I've ever heard.
We have two stalls here at work. I had an intern this summer who didn't know the unwritten law to NEVER EVER use a stall next to one that is being used. I had to have a talk with him.
Maybe he is like me and doesn't like OWA.
AND BEGIN...
Actually I have no idea how the feds got tipped off.
For me, he said one price, then when my co-worker got there he raised the price $100.
Scammy if nothing else.

I see it just like a toilet. Get it installed right, call someone when it clogs or leaks or you break it with a wine bottle. Other than that, it lasts for generations without service.
You know you want to tell that story or you wouldn't have included this tidbit.

Is this service from USPS, if so, their tracking sucks, i've seen it show still not delivered even though the item is in my hand.
This, and often days later.

As a Brit, can confirm - It's just full of Retired people except for like, 2 weeks of Spring Break stuff isn't it?
And Miami and the Keys, of course.

I roll my own from thin sheets of lithium. Hardest part is keeping it from reacting with the air but it's really just a straightforward process.
Do you put little OEM stickers on them?

Really? I hadn't noticed it until today, wanted some reading.
For some reason I click that banner about 50 times a day by mistake.
@scottalanmiller told me why, but I am sure he'll pipe in. (I forget, exactly.)
I was not able to adjust memory before. Now after XenTools I can. (You can also see memory usage which is nice.)

I'm saving us so much money it's honestly crazy (with help from ML of course).
It's amazing the amount of money ML saves people. At least me.
